In the beginning God dreamed about making the Earth, but then he got really busy and never did anything about it. Compare that to, in the beginning God had an idea to make Earth.  After he created the Earth, God saw that it was good and enjoyed His creation.  Do you see the difference there? 

 

But an amazing thing happens when we heed the call of our higher self.  Miracles happen.  Doors open where there was brick walls. Resources appear seemingly out of thin air.  You meet people who gladly offer you the help you desperately needed.

Infinite patience produces immediate rewards.

Western greed and never-ending appetiteWestern Culture has this insatiable appetite for more and more.  The ego’s greatest need is to want.  That’s why the ego is never satisfied when we get a nicer car or a bigger house. The ego will NEVER be satisfied by stuff. If it was satisfied with the big expensive house, there would no longer be a need for itself. 

WE have two sides to ourselves.  Mind and Spirit. Brain and Heart, Thought and inspiration.  We need both of these sides.  When its time to do taxes our thinking side of us comes in very handy.  But when we are trying to choose careers the thinking side can wreck havoc with us.  You can’t trust emotions.  You can change your mind in a heartbeat.  When you go to bed you are thinking one thing, when you wake up you might be feeling completely different.  That’s why you must go with your heart.  You heart doesn’t change every other day.  If you take the ego and your thoughts out of the picture, your heart will not lead you astray.

People in Nursing Homes mostly regretted the things they didn’t do, rather than the things they did. 1. Not going for their dreams. 2. Caring too much about what others think 3. Worrying too much.

Your job is to get so good at doing what you love that people will gladly pay you lots of money for you to do it for them.

I do not get discouraged because every step is another step forward.  There is no way to fail.  Either you learn something and get to experience something or you achieve the result you were looking for.  Either way it is a success.

Take 100% responsibility.  I am responsible.  Doesn’t mean you feel guilty or blame yourself.  Just accept taking control of the outcome of your life.   You are the one who ate the junk food, You are the one who took the job, You are the one who put it on your credit card.   Your Natural instinct is to look around and find someone else to.  If you don’t take responsibility, there is nothing you can do to make it better.

Don’t live someone else’s dream.  If you’re not working towards your dreams, you are working on making someone else’s dream come true.

Everyone is a genius, just in different areas.  But if you judge a fish by his ability to climb a tree, the fish will spend its life whole life thinking its stupid. Einstein

There is no yesterday to remember.  There is no future to worry over.  It is only today that exists.   Yesterday isn’t real.  Memories aren’t REAL.  They are your interpretation of what happened.  You can change your interpretation any time.  You don’t remember everything and you don’t remember anything perfectly.  Ask your brothers and sisters.  They all remember growing up a lot differently than you do.

We need not feel despair in the face of the given of our lives. WE can learn to accept life on its own terms.  WE can find terms satisfactory. WE can create an authentic life by saying yes to life just as it is.

Are we here to Get our Way, or to Dance with the flow of life.  Are we here to avoid pain or to deal with it, grow from it and learn to be compassionate through it.  Are we here to make sure everything goes according to our plans or to trust the surprises and synchronicities that lead us to new vistas.  Are we here to make sure we get a fair deal, or are we here to be upright and loving. Are we here to be loyally loved by everyone or to love with all our might.

Yes is the brave ally of serenity.  No is the scared accomplice of anxiety. 

Yes this happened…. Now what

The opposite of yes is not no.  It is control.

There is only 1 worry, that of not being in full control of what will happen and worrying because we don’t trust ourselves to handle what happens to us. 

Whatever your passion is, develop it into a competency, no matter how long it takes.  Figure our a way to make a stream of income.  Even if its only $10 a month.  If you can do 10, you can do 20, If 20 then 50, 100, 1000, 5000, 10,000 month. Become really good at doing what you love, so people will gladly give you their money.

There is no such thing as completing a project.  All you can complete is a task.  When you complete enough of the right tasks, then you can say the project is done.

Even when you hit a T on your goals, you can always take a left or a right.  Rest if you Must, BUT Don’t you Quit!!

Simply Start.  Then keep taking what feels like the next logical step, and the journey will ultimately take you where you want to go or somewhere even better.

Transform your inner critic into your inner coach.  Inner critic is motivated by love.  It wants you to do the things that will make you happy.  It just doesn’t communicate it very well (like most parents.  The real reason you want your kids to do something is because you love them and want what is best for them.  Often it doesn’t come out that way, and the child doesn’t feel loved)

Don’t take criticism from your inner critic.  Ask for specific things you can to improve and then thank him for the advice.

Whatever you want to do, just start doing it.  Don’t wait for all the planets to be aligned before you start.

Religious people use prayer and waiting on God as an excuse for procrastination and justification.

Time is more valuable than money.  You can always get more money. 

Sometimes all you need is 1 more idea.  Like a combination lock that has 5 right numbers and you just need the last one.  Race horses only win by a length or 2, but get millions more dollars. You just have to be a little better to stand out.

Make sure what you do is the product of your conclusion, not someone else’s.

 Failure= a few errors in judgment repeated every day.  What if instead of an apple a day keeps `the doctor way, you replace it with a snickers a day.  Might not see a difference in 2 weeks or 2 months, but do that for 6 years and you see a huge difference

Success= a few simple disciplines repeated everyday.

How we feel about the past; you can use it as a school or as a club to beat yourself up with.

Im not what I could be, I’m not what I should be, but thank God I’m not what I used to be.

Do what you can. Make a list of things you are not doing what would be easy to do, that would have a big impact on your life.  Do it the best you can.  Could-should- wont=disaster     could-should-will=success

Make reasonable progress in reasonable time.  How long will give a third grader to finish 3 rd grade. 

How many times would you let you child try to walk, before you say. OK, that’s enough.  You’ve tried long enough.  I guess you just don’t have the talent to walk.  NOOO

In 5 years, nobody should be able to say how come you don’t have a superior plan, living in a superior country, with superior opportunities.  If you will change, everything will change.  If you wan to earn more, you must become more valuable.  Can you become 3x more valuable and earn 3x more money. Of course.

Welcome all experiences.  You don’t know which one is going to turn everything on.  Don’t put up a wall.  The same wall that keeps out disappointments will keep out happiness.

Promise yourself you will never, ever, ever give up.

Should we be grateful for the bad things that happen to us?  You Don’t know which ones are bad. 

God’s directions to us are more like a compass than a road map.  WE like to ask God to tell us exactlywhat roads to take, how long it is going to take to get there, And where the DQ’s are along the way for blizzards.  But instead, God points us in the right direction.  We don’t have to wait for God to give us a huge revelation on our life.  We can look inside ourselves and see what God has already revealed to us. Knowing Gods will for you is not some passive guessing game.  Rather it is taking what God has already revealed to us and developing a plan of action.  Where do these deep desires of our heart come from?  Did we put them there? NO.  God put them there.  And God will provide a way for us to live out the dreams and passions.  It would be cruel if God put desires in our hearts that are beyond our ability to accomplish.  God is not an angry task master.  He will not force you to be miserable day after day after day.  He is not going to tell you to go do something you hate doing.  Richard Bolles

Don’t expect God to do for you what God can only do with and through you.

We don’t get what we want.  WE get what we are and what we expect.  Desires are in the conscious.  Expectations are in the unconscious.

I have never seen a person who has a clear plan and goals who is depressed.  They just don’t go together

Work is love made visible and if you cannot work with love but only distaste it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and alms of them who work with joy.

Vocation comes from the latin word for “to call” It suggests you are listening for something that is calling out to you.

Look for recurring themes in things that get your attention.  Don’t think your dreams needs to be new and revolutionary.  Most lives of fulfillment may look ordinary to an observer.  People who end up extremely wealthy are not necessarily doing something rare, rather the critical element is that they are doing something they truly enjoy.  Be confident you can live out your dreams.  Don’t settle for less.

Any stage in life can be an exciting time with many opportunities or a dreary time of confusion and entrapment. 

The feeling of being hurried is not usually the result of living a full life and having no time.  It is on the contrary, born of a vague fear that we are wasting our life.  When we do not do the one thing we ought to do, we have no time for anything else.

Help me O God to listen to what it is that makes my heart Glad, and to follow where it leads.  May joy, no guilt, Your noice, not the voices of others, Your will, not my willfulness be the guide that leads me to my vocation.  Help me unearth the passions of my heart, that laid buried in my youth.  And help me to over that ground again and again until I can hold in my hands. Hold and treasure, Your calling in my life.

 

Pay attention to what God has already revealed to you. People, events and activities that evoke the strongest response in you.  The process is more intuitive than logical.  Our hearts have to join our heads to find true life direction. 

Skill or ability alone will not necessary lead to a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

What is it that you find naturally enjoyable?  Why would God have created us to think imaginatively and to have vivid dreams only to then squelch those dreams for practicality. Trust your dreams as having come from a divine source.  Success doesn’t sneak up on us. It starts as a dream that we combine with a clear plan of action.  Become a dreamer of the day and watch your success soar.

Pain is part of life 1rst noble truth of Buddhism.  Life is suffering. Pain is not punishment and Pleasure is not reward.  They are simply features of any existence.  We all have pain to face, and when we experience it mindfully we simply feel it as it is. Gods purpose was not to have us spend eternity in the Garden of Eden.  If He didn’t want us to  

Why are there starving kids in Africa.  There are supposed to be.  What proof do we have that there are supposed to be.  The only proof we need is that there are.  Does that mean we shouldn’t do anything about it.NO. We should do everything we can to make the world a better place.  But we must do it out of acceptance, not denial. 

Nature has a dark side.  Earthquakes, hurricanes, life is not all flowers and bunnies.  We befriend the dark rather that fearing or hating it.  To be enlightened is to see light in the darkness. 

Find the environment that your genius comes out.

Don’t wait for your ship to come in. Swim out to it. 

Commitment.  The difference between being involved and being committed is illustrated in the pig and the chicken for a bacon and egg breakfast.  The chicken is involved, the pig is committed.

Cross your Rubicon.  Rubicon was the river in Rome that Julius Caesar had to cross.  If he took his army on the other side of the river, he would be labeled a traitor and enemy to the state.  Once he crossed, there was no going back. 

We must cross our rubicon, burn the ship.  Decisions are made in the mind.  Commitments are made in our hearts.  Must take decisions and get them into our hearts are commitment.

When you have a plan B, it takes the focus away from plan A. 

You will and should change your plan for accomplishing goals, but your purpose, the main objective of your life will not change.  Just keep trying different strategies until you find one that works.   For example when you goal is losing 20 lbs you might have to change your strategy.  Someone goes out and runs 10 miles because they want to lose weight and cant even walk the next day.  So they give up trying to lose weight.  Running 10 miles wasn’t the objective.  The objective is to loose weight.  If running doesn’t work, try swimming, tennis, or weightlifting.  Try different strategies for eating healthier. 

5 frogs were sitting on a log.  2 decided to jump.  How many are left??? 5.  Making a decision is not the same thing as actually doing it.  After deciding to jump, one frog heard that there was a snake sighting earlier in the day, and decided it might not be safe to go in.  Another changed his mind and decided to take a nap instead.  Maybe he would go in later tonight. 

People do stupid things for good reasons.  Ex People Join a gang for good reason. Significance (you feel significant when holding a gun up to someone?) relationships (belonging somewhere)

Life is unfair at times to all of us. That is what makes it fair. Life is hard for all of us. Whenever my kids tell me life is not fair, I say “Whoever told you life was fair LIED TO YOU.  You’ve been LIED to, boy. “

Are you made up of softwood, or hard wood.  Softwood trees grow 3-6 feet a year, but are brittle and break easy, and are prone to disease.  A hardwood tree will provide shade and fun for a century.

An old man was planting a peach tree when someone asked him why he was planting it when he would never be able to enjoy it.  He paused and said he had enjoyed fruit and trees that others had planted his whole and it was his turn to pay it back.

Focus is one of the key attributes of character and success.  A miraculous power is unleashed in your life when you truly commit yourself and focus on end results. Light bulb uses the same amount of energy as a laser.

There is no reward in the first 40 hour week of work.  It is only when we go the extra mile that we demonstrate our freedom and true abilities.

You are responsible.  What are you going to do about it? Doesn’t mean you blame yourself.  It might not be your fault (got hit by a drunk driver and now are paralyzed from the waist down). But it is your life and you are responsible for how you are going to handle it from this moment onward.

Self Discipline and Self control seem to be the gatekeeper governing the good or bad that passes into our lives.

If you decide to carve a dragon out of soap and then halfway through your carving decide to change it to a Flower, what it is going to look like when your done?   No one is going to be able to figure out what it is you were trying to carve.  You can carve anything you want, but you need to make a decision and keep it. We need to stop changing what we are trying to create in our life.

There are two pains in life, the pain of discipline and the pain of regret.  With every decision we make, we must weigh the pain.  What will it take to do what I am attempting to do? Vs What are the painful consequences if I don’t get myself to do the activity. The pain of regret is also more painful because it is final. It is easier to pay the price for success, than to pay the price for defeat.  

Driving forces of our lives are gaining pleasure and avoiding pain.  Everything we do is either to avoid pain or to gain pleasure.  Use both.  Think about the 10 page paper you put off writing.  The thought of writing it was so painful that you procrastinated doing it.  Then what happened?  The day before the paper was due, the thought of not turning in the paper and failing the class became more painful than the thought of writing the paper.  So you wrote it. 

It doesn’t matter if you are a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up you had better be ready to run.  The lion has to be faster than the slowest gazelle and the gazelle has to be faster than the fastest lion. 

Some people say motivation doesn’t last.  So what’s the point?  A bath doesn’t last either, that doesn’t mean its not worth doing.  Must motivate yourself everyday.

First we make our habits, then our habits make us. 

Do something you Love, Only then will you invest the time energy and enthusiasm to become really good, even expert.  I read an article about the Forbes 400 richest Americans.  In the article they had surveyed the richest people in America and asked them what was the number one thing they attributed their wealth to.  Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet, Richard Branson all said that choosing a something they loved to do was biggest factor in their success.  That was the number one answer on the survey.  Not hard work.  It wasn’t the best education money can buy.  It wasn’t intelligence.  Just plain doing something they loved to do.   

The thing that you want to do or be the most but think you don’t have enough ability to do it, is probably where you strongest are of talent lies.

Successful people are influenced by the desire for pleasing results.  Failures are influenced by the desire for pleasing methods. Alber Gray

Successful people do what they need to do, when they need to do it, regardless of what they feel like.

The secret of success is the habit of doing things that failures don’t like to do or wont do. What are the five things that failures don’t like to do in your business. If you can figure out what others wont do or hate to do and learn to enjoy it, your success is guaranteed

Just like a developer can build an office building on top of a garbage dump, we can build on top of our minds, even if garbage has been dumped there for a long time. Just need to bring in some good top soil.

The person who does not believe in them self and fully use their ability is literally stealing for them self.

Need to get ego out of the way of spirit.  Don’t need outside sources to feel good about yourself.  

God don’t make no trash.  God doesn’t make mistakes.  His fingerprints are all over you.  God made you exactly how he wanted to.  Your looks and personality is exactly how they are supposed to be. If God wanted to make you look different, or have a different personality, then that is how you would be.  But God chose to make you like you are. 

You must accept yourself first before you can accept the fact that you deserve success and happiness. 

Many educated people never succeed in life because they are not motivated to put their imaginations to work to utilize their knowledge.  Some people spend their whole life preparing to do something.  They are over motivated underachievers.

You wouldn’t trade your eyesight or your legs for a million dollars, so you are already worth millions. 

How do you feel when your child says they are no good or cant do anything right (Jake told me that when he was 7 and it broke my heart)  How does your creator feel when we say we cant do anything right, that we are no good, or are ugly.

Look in the mirror and say God loves you and so do I.

Focus on serving others. No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it for someone else. Have anything you want in this world, if you help other people get what they want.  Have you done any good in the world today?

Create a victory list

You are not inferior to anyone.  You are not above or beneath anyone.  Deepak Chopra was with his teacher when the prime minister came to visit.  The teacher made the Prime Minister wait outside until the class was finished. The Students were shocked.

Average person goes to their grave with their music still in them. 

Birds don’t sing because they have all the answers.  They sing because they have a song inside them.

When you work for someone, work for them all the way.  If you are in something, get in it all the way.  If you cant get into it all the way, get all the way out.  Bible says behot or cold, lukewarm gets spewed out. Either find a job or career you love, or find a way to love it.  You are not doing yourself or your boss a favor by continuing to do a job you hate.

You can plant corn or nightshade (a deadly poison) The Land doesn’t care.  It will grow whatever is planted.  Our mind is the same way.  It doesn’t care what is put in.  It will grow whatever seeds are planted.

WE make it so hard to win the game of life.  We Need to know what it takes to win.  How would you like to play a game, and not know how to win. Every time you shoot the ball, the goal moves.  Figure out what it would take for you to feel successful.  Then quit moving the bar up. 

Goals should be big.  Because it takes a big goal to create the excitement necessary for accomplishing it.  It’s good to try to talk yourself out of your dreams. Because if you can talk yourself out of it, then you probably didn’t want it enough to make it happen anyway.

 It’s not the occupation or profession that makes you succeed or fail. It’s how you see yourself and your occupation

If you wait until all the lights are green before you leave your home, you’ll never get started.  They say the quickest way is in a straight line, but that’s not how it works. You don’t go in a straight line from your house to the grocery store.  You would be going through houses and fences.  Deal with the lights one at a time until you reach your destination.  You go as far as you can see, when you get there you will be able to see farther.  You can Drive from LA to San Fransisco at night just seeing 100 ft in front of you.

Goals must be daily or you are a dreamer

Everyone’s daily goal should be to do the best they can today while preparing for a better tomorrow (with specifics of course!)

Take action_ the largest locomotive in the world can be held in place with several small wooden blocks.  But once it is in motion traveling at 100 mph it can plough through 6 feet of steel reinforced concrete.

1 year is one chapter of your life story.  1 month is a paragraph.  1 week is a sentence.  1 day is a word.  EVERYDAY YOU ARE WRITING SOMETHING IN YOUR LIFE STORY. 

If your life story was turned into a motion picture, What would the audience think when it was over.  Would they say, THAT WAS AWESOME!!! Or would they walk out of the theatre with a confused look on their face and say “WHAT WAS THAT ALL ABOUT??????”

You can have any feeling you want right now.  You don’t want little pieces of paper that have dead presidents faces on it….. You want the feeling of financial security.  You want to feel valuable, important

Financial planning is not planning for more money, a new car, or a bigger house.  It is planning for happiness.

Focus on relationships. Focus on experiences that yield fulfillment , joy, peace, and happiness.

Ask yourself what you can do for others.  HOW can I serve?   “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.” JFK

People will expend far more effort in pursuit of a worthwhile cause in life than in the acquisition of a dollar. 

Happiness does not depend on what we have, but how we feel about what we have.

Old people in a retirement home.  #1 Thing they regret is not going after their dreams. #2 Caring too much about what other people think  3.  Enjoying life more, not worrying so much.

When you choose a habit, you also choose the end result of the habit. Good habits are difficult to acquire but easy to live with.  Bad habits are easy to acquire but hard to live with.  You can choose an action but you cant choose the consequence of that action.

Be a student, not a follower.  Take advice, not orders.  Make sure what you do is the product of your own conclusion. Be Independent of the good or bad opinion of others.

He who chases 2 rabbits, catches none. 

If you have money, is it right to want more money? What if you have a great relationship with your wife.  Is it right to work on it and make it better.  Whatever abundance we desire we should go after it. 

The first key to becoming wealthy is to understand we already are.  Some people say we shouldn’tdesire things, But all the magnificent things that surround us in the physical world are of a spiritual nature. 

  1. What do you love to do most 2. How can you do it in a way that massively helps others.3. how can you make a profit.

What must happen for you to feel like a success? When someone compliments us, we feel good. Not because they complimented us, but because we decided to let ourselves feel god.

When I went through bankruptcy I changed my rule from success is making $100,000 and reaching my goals, to 1. Roof over my kids head 2. Kids have food to eat. And 3. Haven’t given up yet. 

Questions to ask when you have a “Problem”

1. What’s good about this? ( or what could be good?)

  1.  What’s not perfect yet
  2. What am I willing to do to make it better
  3. What am I no longer willing to do
  4. How can I do whats necessary to get the job done and enjoy the process.

You should be concerned about your problems, but not worried.  When in NYC you should be concerned about all the traffic, but not worried about it.

Stop blaming poor potty training for your situation

Ask yourself questions. Brian, I need your advice.  I have a problem and I need your help.  If you were me in this situation, what would you do?

 The end cant be an excuse for the means.  The way to heaven, is heaven.

Quarry your uniqueness.  Mine for it.  What have you done consistently well?  What have you loved to do? 

Don’t covet strengths others have.Just extract your uniqueness , and do so to make a big Deal out of God.

God sends people to Earth with life assignments “ Go to your place, Dispatch your abilities and unfurl my goodness.”   When you magnify your maker with your strengths, when your contribution enriches Gods reputation, your days grow suddenly sweet.

You cannot be anything you want to be, but you can be everything God wants you to be.  Be content with who you are.  Everything is exactly how it is supposed to be.  God made you exactly how he wanted me.  God don’t make no trash.  God doesn’t make mistakes. 

Your career consumes half of your lifetime.  Shouldn’t it broadcast God? Make a big deal of him.  Beautify his face, Adorn his image.  No disrespect, but who needs to see your face.  Who doesn’t need to see God’s.

Self Elevation and Self Depreciation are equally inaccurate.  Where is the truth? Dead Center between “I can do anything” and I can do nothing” is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.  Raise your hand if you know how many hairs are on the top of your head. Pause.   A hand in heaven just went up.

Zen saying.  “This being the case, how shall I proceed” not “This being the case, who is at fault and why is this happening to me?”

If your heart is pure, then all things in the world are pure.  And the moon and flowers will guide you on your path.

Nature doesn’t discriminate.  It opens itself to everyone, likewise it doesn’t retaliate.  The man who litters the beach may nonetheless catch a fish the same day.  Where there is not love, put love, and you will find love John of the Cross

Yes sounds like this.  “How can I GO THROUGH THIS MY EYES WIDE OPEN. How can I go through this with all my feelings?  Then I will be in the best position to grow from the events.

Neurotic fear is the mortal and relentless foe of our lively energy.  The COUNTER PART OF FEAR IS EXCITEMENT! TO BE AFRIAD IS TO REPRESS OUR EXCITEMENT ABOUT THE CHALLENGES WE ARE FACING.  A Practice is to ask ourselves when we are afraid.  What am I afraid to get excited about?

Fear is part of us, and it is meant to feel and to let go.  If it is possessed instead of passes through us, it beats us up in body, heart, and mind.  It is ruthless and pervasive.  Fear knows our Achilles Heel and goes for it everytime.  It kicks us when we are down. It compels us to make imprudent choices, then laughs at us for our rashness.  It kills our 2 best friends: trust in ourselves and trust in the possibility of an alternative outcome.

Our best hopes are Guts and Grace. Guts admit we are afraid.  Allow the feeling of fear to be felt fully.  Act so we are not stopped or driven by fear.  Grace: Begin by asking for assistance from a source greater than ego and end with thanks for the help.

Worst of all we fear Fear itself.  The fear of fear can lead to us taking so many precaution that we never get to live the life we want to live.  We walk on eggshells instead of breaking out of the egg. The freedom to feel leads to fearless honesty.  We can be who we are.  WE can act spontaneously and freely express our emotions.  Gradually we notice that we like what we spontaneously say and do, that we are proud of our honesty.  That we no longer are trying to look good.  We say yes to ourselves as we are. You must love life enough to do the work that earns freedom. Whatever you do you should be able to accomplish with excellence, or else you should not offer to do it. 

Once you are convinced that you can succeed, nerve is an asset.  Someone with nerve will go after business that someone without guts would not. 

Just need to be 10% better than the competition to stand out.  Horse that is just a little faster will win 1 million and the other one will get $20,000.

People have problems.  If you can solve their problems you will have a steady income.  Such as alcoholism, smoking, obesity, loneliness, insomnia, parenting, marital troubles, insufficient income, inability to land a job, get promoted. Etc You do not have to be or have the expertise to provide the solutions.  You only have to direct the people with the problems to the people with the solutions.

Set your sights high, with enough planning and determination, you will gain just what you seek.  Be prepared to live with slowness initially.

Don’t be afraid to make decisions. Shoot for being right 51% of the time.  Most people don’t make decisions 0/0 = 0%.  Decision- word means to cut off other alternatives (like incision)

Twin towers were once an idea in someone’s head (to build).  The falling of the twin towers was also once just an idea in someone’s head. 

Ask yourself why have I not achieved this goal already. 80% of what keeps us from our goals is inside us Only 20% outside.

When you find a major obstacle attack it like a swarm of bees. Focus all your energy on it. Hour after hour, day after day, until you overcome it.

Identify what skill, ability, confidence or piece of information you lack.  Identify this obstacle as clearly as possible and make a plan to remove it.  What one skill if I developed it, did it consistently in an excellent fashion would have the greatest positive impact on my career. You MUST FIND OUT.  The ANSWER IS THE KEY TO MOVING FORWARD. 

Work offers the individual the opportunity to share acts of love and beauty, to see himself reflected in the image of his work.  Since work is what we do with most of our waking lives, we must, if we count life valuable, consider what we are working for.  Work should reflect the spiritual as well as material life of man.  Work is art, the unique creative expression of the individual.

“They” are never going to make the world a better place.  Its up to you and me, and we can do it. If we have the love, the courage and the patience. 

To attempt to make a career choice apart from an examination of our values and apart from a consideration of the impact that our doing has upon society is to make an immature choice.  We must have the love to go for what we know is right, even if it means paying a price.  We who love life, must work with life, for life, while celebrating the mystery that is life.  In short we must be actively engaged in making the world the best it can be, while loving it exactly as it is.  We must have the courage to believe the world we have dreamed will one day be made manifest and what we do as individuals makes a difference.

Understand that up to now, we have kept ourselves from our work. Our subconscious beliefs have kept us from the discovery of our life’s work, or from taking the necessary action to make it manifest.  Persist through the difficulties whatever they may be and you will open doors to a deeper richer experience of yourself and your work.

Making the transition from idea to reality can be a difficult process, often taking many years and consistent determined effort.  Of all potential barriers the psychological factor is undoubtedly the most significant.  The individual with significant desire, dedication, and perseverance will find a way to make it work.  If she lacks knowledge and skills, she will acquire them. If she lacks capital she will find a way to get it or begin on a shoestring budget.

Life and work are not things apart from each other.  Work is more than gaining privileges and possessions. It is ongoing, ecstatic, living experience. When we live in the Bliss, there is no difficulty that is insurmountable. If we miss the bliss, there is no compensation that is adequate.

We are kept out of the garden by our own fear and desire in relation to what we think to be the goods of our life.  The highest order of duty to self is to follow your bliss [for in following your true self, you are really following God.  He put those desires inside you.  You didn’t put them in there bg]

Must come out of acceptance, I accept the world how it is. I love it. Yet I will still strive for my vision of the possible.

We fear living because we don’t believe we are adequate to life.  We get so hung up on limitations that we fail to recognize our basic adequacy as human beings. 

You can be the artist of your life by recognizing that for your limitations, you are basically adequate to life.  For all of its difficulties, life is basically adequate for you.  Be here now with what is and play with the stuff of your life.  If you have 12 crayons in your box, use your creativity and resourcefulness to make the best picture you can.  Don’t spend your time worrying about someone else who has 48 or 64 crayons.

Your basic adequacy is not won or done. Its not because you own a home or because you have a good job. Or a big bank account, or a certain relationship.  Your basic adequacy is in your breathe, in your beating heart, in your life.  You are adequate to life because you are life. You have all you need; a heart, a body, an imaginative mind, a basic connection to all life.  You have an earth to walk on.  It has gravity to hold you. It has water and fire , plants and trees, mountains and valleys. It’s an adequate earth. The sky is adequate. It has a sun and a moon. It has stars, not too many, not too few.  As you begin to attune to the adequacy of all the world around and within you, you will see ever more opportunities for creative play. Even as the artist accepts the tools of his craft and creates with these, accept all the stuff of your life and creatively play with it.  Let everything be allowed to do what it naturally does. How can we make work genuine art? An expression of our deepest selves.  We begin by asking “What are we working for?”.  Is the purpose of work to solve problems or to creatively express oneself.  Man was not thrust into a strange world. We came out it as naturally as water comes out of a bubbling brook, [or as naturally as a tulip comes out of the ground].  Man is not against Nature. Nature is in him and he is nature. The approach of traditional career models is to solve problems (poverty, boredom, etc) Work is something we are forced to do to solve our problems. So many people dream of winning the lottery and “solving all their problems” and not “having “ to work anymore.

Our approach is to assist people in creating their life’s work; their full self expression.

Your life’s work does not exist “out there”. Being too concerned about what is out there before you know what you want puts you in a position of powerlessness. Begin by identifying the results you want, then to move confidently, and deliberately in that direction, no matter how small your steps may seem.  Work comes out of life like grass grows, the way apple trees apple.

Work is first and foremost a vehicle of self expression. Self Expression is naturally joyous and exciting and naturally prompts one to work with excellence. When you are doing something you love, you naturally want to make it excellent, the best you can. The way you want to give a friend a lovely gift. Discovering your life’s work is not a mechanical process of assembling facts. It is more a matter of trusting yourself, and gaining specific knowledge and taking definitive action and persevering.

The great challenges of life are to be and to express.

There is no conflict with ‘going with the flow” and creating what you want. Creating what you want is going with the flow if it means to follow your bliss, moving with the flow of your deepest desires. Your deepest desires (not commercially manufactured) are at one with the universe. Your deepest desires are as organic as any towering tree, roaming river, or flowering bush.

Freedom cannot be demanded from others. It must be created for ourselves.

What do you want to “be”? throws us off track. Better question is what do you want to make.  What do you want to express/ create.

Have to vs Want to . I have to work. I have to pay the bills.  I want to work. I want to share myself. Feel the difference.  The things you have done because you truly wanted to, you experienced. The things you did because you felt you “had to”, you missed.  .  You don’t have to do anything. Sure there could and would be consequences. But you still don’t “have to”.

Your calling is your natural way of being useful.  Struggling and straining to find your calling is a good way to miss it.  It’s natural after all.

Life is a dance. If you seen cells divide, or the sun on the water, you can see that is a dance. If you think too much when you’re dancing you trip over your feet. In the same way, if you miss the rhythm of your life, you’ll stumble through it a bit awkward and out of place.

The Buddha like all the great sages tells us that it is the craving desire to act for self interest that binds us to suffering. Jesus said to save yourself you must lose yourself. Lose those self serving cravings

Yet how can we eliminate desire. It is the stuff of life. To kill it would be to destroy life. We cannot destroy desire, but we can begin to recognize that beyond the transient desires of the ego, there lies deeper desires for love and service to mankind. We can lose ourselves in our desire to give of our love and talent. This we have been told by all the great teachers is the road to happiness.

Why then is this road so little traveled? We are busy running down approval alley. When we stake our happiness on other people, places, things, or circumstances, we are sure to be disappointed. Roller coaster ride of elation and depression. An endless cycle of ups and downs.  WE miss the ecstatic pulse of life, its radiant bliss.  Bliss is not pleasure without pain. Genuine bliss holds infinite sorrow as space holds the earth, without effort or weariness.  We miss bliss in trying to find happiness. Laurence Boldt

Zen masters laugh at our vain attempts to find happiness in outer circumstances. That is like to feed hunger by taping sandwiches all over your body. Bliss is not anything to be acquired, conquered, or possessed by outer means. Rather it is an ongoing experience to relax into.

If you find great joy and are willing to sacrifice for it, you are on the right track.

To be willing to suffer in order to create is one thing, to realize that creation necessitates ones suffering, that suffering is one of the greatest of Gods gifts, is almost to reach a mystical solution to the problem of evil JW Sullivan.

Allow your natural compassion and bliss to ripen and you are sure to find your vocation sooner or later.

Recognize your desire to be useful.

WE fear change. We try to create a predictable life that is as unthreatening as possible. Yet it is not knowing what is coming around the corner that makes life so interesting. Look at nature. Its full of surprises.  It curves, zig zags and bends. It grows, expands, decays and dies. Yet for all its changes, nature has an order, an intelligence.

Follow your compassion and bliss. They know where to take you.

Where can I serve????

Whatever your calling, your way of being useful, how you go about it is as much “your work” as what you do. Act without waste or haste, in a spirit of play. (God is not running around worried about how everything is going to work out)  Was Jesus anxious, staying up all night, running around with his head chopped off.  

Every man or woman is a potential poet or artist, and has the capacity to bring their work the dignity and presence of the artist. The final product is always inadequate. Yet as Michelangelo said, it is in striving for perfection that the artist reaches the divine.

Proper art is a kind of meditation, and work should be approached in this sacred manner.  The mind ceases. Work becomes a vehicle for an epiphany.

You should not pretend to fully understand why you want what you want.  Much of it is unfathomable and that is fine.  “I just know that it feels right for me” is good enough. 

What if the career you want is not realistic?  Realistic to who?  Even the most unrealistic looking career ideas can be reality tested.  Better to fail 6 times and learn from your experiences that to be told not to do something and forever regret not having tried it. 

Ego is future oriented and results oriented. Ego can rob a career of its happiness. “When I ____, only then will I be happy.” “I want to be ____ by the time I’m ____”.  Our culture glamorizes success, money, and status.  It is easy to lose the peace of mind that comes from being yourself. 

The best careers are those that emerge form the depths of a persons being, revealing her strongest drives and ambitions. Choosing a career is giving yourself permission to be who you are.

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.  Oriah Mountain Dreamer

Back to bliss. How do we get back to bliss?  Better question is how did we ever lose it. Every child knows the joy of living.

Were so engaged in doing things to achieve purposes of outer value, that we forget the inner value. The rapture that is associated with being alive. That’s what it is all about.  

Reclaim the bliss. Leave your mind behind.  Feel the breeze, dance naked in the moonlight. Move freely. It feels good out here. Don’t worry. You will be able to handle the pain when it comes.  You are strong.

Learn to live with the pain, not in spite of it. Not in hope of its end. Not being crushed by it, but with it.   Pain is inevitable, suffering is not. We who would reach the greatest heights of human experience must be ready to meet the pain of this world head on. Each must conquer for himself the desire to run away from life. You are here. There is no denying it. You may as well decide to like it, to love it. Either you think that life should not exist and that its all a big mistake, or you affirm its basic goodness. Say yes to life with all its pain and beauty, horror and majesty, sorrow and bliss. It is good that life exists. It’s as simple as that. Oh yes, do all you can to make the world a better place, but that comes out of acceptance, not out of rejection. Love in its truest form accepts life exactly how it is. Yet paradoxically, love is also the strongest force of change.

What are the dominant questions in your life? Your dominant questions determine your life’s direction and shape. How can I get by? How can I avoid losing what I have?  Vs How can I serve? Why am I here? These two sets of questions lead to fundamentally different lives.

All those who take up the great Quest-I-on (s) (questions) of life and hold to them tenaciously, to them will enter into a marvelous life, the life of their destiny.

Money makes things happen, but it is second to love.

Right now you contain everything you need. The seed is within you. It’s not something that needs to be added or invented. All you can do is create the right circumstances. Through the process of asking questions you might put a new light in the seed and add just a tad more water… and suddenly germination.

Craft the story of your life.  When most novelists sit down to write, they don’t know everything that is going to happen. They start off with an idea, a compelling question. And they work through the plot and characters. Approach your life the same way. You don’t have to know everything that is going to happen. Don’t worry about the details of how you will accomplish your objectives. Just start with a rough outline.

Because we fear and hate the problems that seem to trap us, we find no way out. It is often necessary that we find more confidence and love before things start to improve.

50% of Americans report being dissatisfied with their employment. Most however do not let their dissatisfaction reach the point where action becomes a necessityOnce it becomes a necessity, we begin to look over what we have previously overlooked, looking for a better way. When discomfort reaches the point of necessity, we demand of ourselves, and the world, that a better way be shown.

When we doubt our ability to create( to love), we begin to block and distort our perceptions of the world.

Where is creative discontent taking you?

Don’t be afraid of problems. Take a creative look at them. Solutions rise spontaneously. Whatever level you are working on, get clear on exactly what the problems are. Get to the essence. WE must have the patience to persist until we see a problem clearly enough for a solution to arise. Time and again we accept limitations simply because we don’t know any better. We must maintain the patience to investigate until we see a better way. Most of us accept the conventional assumption of lack because we are ignorant of the facts and lack the patience to investigate. There is nothing that will not reveal its secrets to you if you love it enough.

It is a hungry world we live in.  The world is hungry in many ways- for knowledge, wisdom, caring , justice, beauty, peace, joy, hungry for love, YOUR LOVE. The hunger of the world cries out for the food of your loving attention. Listen and discover what kind of food you have, and then distribute it where it is most needed and wanted. Do you have wisdom food or affection food? Do you beauty food, or confidence food. We can all feed other our best food and in doing so nourish all of life. Laurence Boldt

Many of us have dedicated our lives to feeling good: avoiding suffering at all costs. We want day without night, beauty without ugliness, comedy without tragedy. Sooner or later we must find a love big enough and strong enough to love life exactly how it is. Your life is exactly how it is supposed to be right now.

120 million prescriptions for psychiatric drugs each year.  30 million take sedatives on a regular basis. 15% of population are alcoholics. 50 billion a year on illegal drugs. Best selling product in America.  Clearly we cannot run from the pain of the world. Love is the only safe way.

Go on a vision quest. Consecrate yourself to a higher purpose. Then let go. Start by relaxing, playing, keeping an open mind.

Often we ignore our inspirations and then wonder why our lives seem to lack the marvelous or magical quality we felt as children. Children trust their imagination and aren’t afraid of looking ridiculous. We really needn’t fear. WE are all a little ridiculous. 

My wife has a sign on the fridge that says”We are all a little crazy.  When we find someone who’s craziness is compatible with ours, we call it love.”

But I am no artist. You may protest. Yet is your life any less a canvas because you do not paint, your voice less potent because you do not give it a pen. Your soul barren of song because you do not compose notes. No. No a thousand times. Laurence Boldt

Whether you spend your life making bombs or doing community service, you are making a point about what you think is important.  The life spent doing what you love is a different life indeed from putting yourself out to hire to the highest bidder. Every life has something to say. Find the voice, the message of your life. Ask yourself why this character has made his entrance.

In a well staged play, there is no thing or action without purpose. Every word movement, lighting effect, costume, and prop deliverers a message. What is the message you want an audience of 7 billion people to get from the action of your life. 

Don’t exaggerate, deny or minimize your importance. Many are blocked form tapping into their purpose in life by their insistence that it come with a personalized nametag. They expect the sky open, and a deep voice from on high to say “Well My son, this is your purpose! Choirs of angels lightening and thunder are optional, but the deep bass voice is a must. Don’t confuse talent and skill. Talent is natural skill is learned. Talent is not simply what you’re good at.  You can have undeveloped and undiscovered talent. You can also be really good at doing something that you have little natural talent.

Your talents are found is the things you truly love to do.  Talents provide an open door into the discovery of your life’s work. If you pursue what you have real talent in, you will experience the joy of being fully alive in your work. Often we have so much invested in training developing our skills that we are unwilling to admit that we have little real talent for the area. When we do admit it, we feel a sense of relief, for now we can go to discover our genuine talents and purse them with a passion.

Don’t let a poor investment of our time and energy continue to rob you of what could be your greatest joy. Your talents can hardly wait to express themselves. They are itching to get out and about. To go through life without releasing your strongest talents leads to a feeling of frustration, resentment, even depression. Its as if you were damning a great river of energy. The release of talents is one of the great joys in life. You feel a deep harmony, with self, humanity, and the world. You feel right with the world.

More talent has been squandered by the low expectations that result from lack of purpose than from any other cause.  You will never tap into your deepest well of your own talent until you set yourself to some great cause.

When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bounds. Your mind transcends limitations. Your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new great and wonderful world. If you are dedicated to your purpose you will find a way to express your talents through it. We are not drawn to areas where we have no talent or latent ability. We are drawn to a particular field because we know we have an important contribution to make to it. You may currently be a 2 on a scale of competency in the area that best reflects your vision, purpose, and talents. And a 5 in another area. Work at what you love. Trust that what you do will see you through. That’s not easy but better to grow into what you love, than pretend to be satisfied with a dead end.

When looking for your talent, look for 1. What you enjoy doing. 2. What you enjoy thinking about 3. What you enjoy learning about 4. What you enjoy as a process.

Your mission is to give birth to the great idea of your life.  Everyone has a great idea for their life. For many it remains unrecognized and unfertilized. Some abort the idea before it ever has a chance to grow.  Some abandon it in its infancy. Still others chain the idea to themselves and make it twisted and distorted. AND SOME SET IT FREE.  Discover the great idea of your life an set it free. But don’t kid yourself. It will take every ounce of you. No weak halfhearted efforts will raise this child. Only a mother’s love will get the job done.  There will be joys and sorrows, frustrations and victories, agony and ecstasy. Take an idea that will grab hold of you and not let you go until it has squeezed the very best from you.  Your mission is your special gift to mankind.

Never compromise your deepest desire. Don’t give up. Stand strong.  Give your attention to that which focused on gives you strength, dignity, self respect and a sense of being destined to achieve your best life. 

Your deepest desire is not going away.   Go to a nursing home. See if many don’t still have the idea of the thing they always wanted to do but didn’t . Your desires aren’t going away either.  Honor it, and do your best give it expression. Keep coming back to it. Feed it more and more attention.  Let your desire become so strong than no fear from within or obstacle from without can stop your commitment to give your best. 

Try to talk yourself out of it.  Because if you can talk yourself out of it, YOU WILL NEVER HAVE THE DETERMINATION YOU WILL NEED TO SEE IT THROUGH.

Approval comes and goes, we ultimately have to live with what we think of ourselves.  Remaining true to your conscience is the safest possible course.

Choose a game you can get into.The career game you choose to play ought to attract you and be fun for you.  In many career fields you will be judged on your ability to play the game at least as much as your work performance. If you don’t think so try showing up to work in your bath robe. The best way to enjoy the game is to remember it is one. If you take it seriously, youre not playing the game. And if your playing, you cant take it seriously. Life is a game, full of games.

Choose a career not because you want be something but because you want to do something. Otherwise it is too easy to get distracted and lose your purpose.  Choose a game that allows you to fully express your talents, that is compatible with your personality. You ought to enjoy playing it. If you detest it, it will be hard to stay on purpose. Choose a game you can commit yourself to. That you can get into and play long enough and intensely enough to excel at. Choose a game in which you can get respect and get a sense of honor in playing.

Your aggressive energy can work for or against you. It will find expression either way. Either in creativity and initiative, or in negativity and self sabotage. 

Must project confidence.  In the long run confidence cannot be faked. You must develop the attitude and knowledge that breed confidence.

To think something is boring is to make it so. It matters less how exciting something is. It matter s more how much excitement you bring to something. Some people have boring sex. There is nothing so intrinsically thrilling that it cant seem boring when approached in a half hearted manner. On the other hard there is nothing we can’t experience in the heightened state of full attention and awareness.

These days one has to be careful saying that something can’t be done. 99% of the time someone is doing that very thing right now in equally or more difficult circumstances.

Find someone who is doing it and copy them. Every artist has to learn how to copy before he can invent. Every warrior has to go to training before battle.

Do what the model says. If you DO IT, your DOING IT! Don’t let confusion stop you from acting. Any one way is better than none. Act.  DON’T WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE!!!!!! THIS CANNOT BE OVERSTATED.

BEGIN WHERE YOU ARE. Always go as far as you can with your current understanding. This created a positive force of momentum. Go to the highest peak you can, and see what you can see from there.  When we are stuck, its simply because we cant see what to do next. We are looking at all that needs to be done , not WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE NEXT! You can only take one step at a time. You don’t look at a pizza and say I cant eat it all. Its too big to fit in my mouth! NO . You slice it up and take bites.  Go back to your model. See where you are in the process and what the next step is.  Stop and look how far you’ve come.

Tony Robbins started the Tony Robbins Institute in his tiny office/apartment.  Had to choose between a desk and a bed. What do you think he chose.  He chose the desk.  He put a hammock across the room to sleep in.  Les Brown almost got kicked out of his office building, because he was sleeping in it.  

Worry is the misuse of imagination. If your subconscious conjures up pictures of negative results, your subconscious will move you away from the painful envisioned situation.  This puts you in a state of struggle. Consciously you are trying to move toward a goal, unconsciously you are trying to move away. If you are associating negative things with your goals, it may be because you don’t have enough information. The more knowledge you have the easier it is for your mind to come up with positive outcomes. Hold only positive, pleasure producing pictures of the things you want and your actions will follow.

If you can’t find what you want out there 1. It doesn’t exist 2. You don’t know how to find it, or you have given up too soon. It’s possible its not out there, but that takes lots of research to determine that. KEEP LOOKING!!!!  If no one is doing it, generally speaking, it’s probably not a very good idea. 

If it’s been done, but not by you, other peoples experience can help you through. Go after it through books, classes, seminars, workshops, friends, and mentors. Aggressively seek all you need to know. Assemble a team of people committed to the purpose and vision of your organization. Hire outside experts when you are stuck. But never, never, give up!! Those with the wisdom of a sage know that the plans and intentions of our conscious mind are but a small part of life, so they remain flexible. They realize success is often a matter of moving with events that are larger than ones self. So they are sensitive to the flow of events. Doesn’t mean that they abandon goals, but they move toward them in a way that is as simple and as harmonious as possible. To be good students of life we retain (or reclaim) the child like eagerness to learn, yet to be able to stand back (detach) and look at where we are going and consider the best way. We can learn to be OLD BOYS= Eager, playful and decisive, yet wise patient and enduring.

Attention is the key to learning. Whenever we increase our intention, we increase our attention, and with it our ability to learn.

Lack of self confidence is more often than not simple laziness.  We feel confused because we do not know. But instead of making the effort to investigate, we procrastinate and worry. We tell ourselves we cant, instead of learning how we can. If we used the mental energy we expend in worry and fear to get out and find out about what we do not know, we would see our confidence grow. The real test of whether you have learned something is whether you have applied it to your life.  Have you taken action on it?  Read the book, attend the meeting, approach a mentor, and practice what you knowWhen you doubt whether you can live your dreams remember someone is counting on you.  If you want to open an orphanage in Africa, put pictures of African children all over the wall. 

Your heart wants to give, to share to make a contribution. Your ego wants stimulation and attention. Get your ego on board by using positive strokes.

You will have far more success if you view your new work as something you are moving towards, than if you view your old work as something you are moving away from.

Until we mature enough to realize that God uses everything for good in our lives, we harbor resentment. The antidote is to realize that God always acts in your best interests even if it is painful and you don’t understand it.

God wants all of you. God doesn’t want a part of your life. He asks for all of your heart, all of your soul, all of your mind and strength. God is not interested in half hearted commitment, partial obedience and the leftovers of your time, money, and energy.

Gods ultimate goal for you life on Earth is not comfort, but character development. Much confusion in the Christian life comes from the truth that God is far more interested in building your character than he is in anything else. We worry when God seems to be silent on specific issues. What Career should I choose???? The truth is many careers could be in Gods will for you. What God cares must about is that whatever you do, you do it in a Christ like manner. Jesus did not die on the cross so we could live comfortable, well adjusted lives. His purpose is far deeper. He wants to make us like himself before he takes us to heaven.

When you wake up every morning kneel by your bed and say “God, whether I get anything else done today, I want to make sure I spend time loving you and loving other people, because that is what life is about.  I don’t want to waste this day.

Some people wake up and say “Good God, its morning”.  Others wake up and say “Good Morning God!”

Be patient with God and with yourself. Gods timetable is rarely the same as ours. WE are often in a hurry when God is not. (Was Jesus ever rushing around, stressed out, worried that he wasn’t going to get everything done. Cant imagine that). You may feel frustrated with the seemingly slow progress you’re making in life. But he will use your entire lifetime to prepare you for your role in eternity. When When God wants to make a mushroom, he does it overnight. When he wants to make a giant oak, it takes 100 years.

Most of us are looking for a job that meets our needs, and serves us, rather than looking for a job to serve others and be a blessing. Whose needs can I meet. At the end of your life you will stand before God and he is going to evaluate how well you served others with your life. One day God will compare how much time we spent on ourselves compared with what we invested in serving others. At that point all of our excuses for self centeredness will sound hollow.

The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does leaving other to decide if he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both. James Michener

Any stage of life can be an exciting time with many opportunities or a dreary time of confusion and entrapment. Be confident you can live out your dreams. Don’t settle for less.

Stop talking about how big your mountains are.  Tell your mountains how big your God is.  Sometimes you have to speak to your mountains.  Jesus said you could say the mountain and it would move.  He didn’t say just pray about.  You’ve already prayed about it.  Now its time to believe and act. 

Thank you for creating me the way you did. I know you have a purpose and a plan for me. God wants us to view ourselves as priceless treasures.

Your sense of value should not come from your accomplishments, how popular or successful you are. It should be based solely on the fact that you are a child of God. Its vital that you accept yourself and be happy with who God made you to be. If he wanted to make you look like a fashion model, he would have. If he wanted you to have a different personality he would have given it to you.  You must be at peace with yourself. When we go through life with a poverty mindset, it does not glorify God. (What would you think if I introduced my children to you, and they were in rags, dirty, and looked hungry? You would think I was a bad father!!!) We insult God when we beg for scraps.

Stop talking to God about how big your mountains are, and start talking to your mountains about how big your God is. 

We all want to change overnight. Allow God to change you in his own time. God changes us little by little. You can quit struggling, stop worrying and simply do your best to love God and live for him. Love others and let God change you in his own way and in his own timing. Many people know God has spoken to them, and know he has put a dream in their heart. But then they go about trying to fulfill Gods plan on their own. Getting out of Gods timing is the same as getting out of Gods will.

You have not lived until you have done something for someone who can’t pay you back. Make a decision to live to give. Be on the lookout for people you can bless. If you want to experience God’s abundance you must take the focus off yourself and on to others. All of the spiritual masters have taught that you must lose yourself to find yourself. If you want to reap happiness, sow happiness seeds. If you want to be rich, sow rich seeds by helping others be rich. Successful- help others be successful. (land doesn’t care if you plant Pumpkins, or nightshade, a deadly poison. Whatever seeds you plant, it will grow) If you focus on helping other people get their needs, God will always help you get what you need.

It’s not enough to say “God I trust you. I know you are going to meet all my needs.” That’s like the farmer not planting any seeds and expecting a harvest.

Make the most out of what God has given you. Bloom where you are planted. Your life compared to someone else’s is a bed of roses. You have some obstacles, but some people would give anything to have your life. God has you where you are for a reason. He may be trying to teach you something or he may have put you there to be part of the work He is doing in someone else’s life.

God is more interested in changing you than in changing your circumstances. In most cases God is not going to change your circumstances until you change.

You don’t have to be doing something extraordinary in your life to be excited.  You may not live in the perfect environment or have the perfect job, the perfect marriage, but you can still choose to live each day with enthusiasm and expect good things. If it doesn’t happen today, say “ God, even though it didn’t happen today, I’m still believing for good things in my life. I’m still excited because I know that I am one day closer to my miracle.”

Not only do we want to be the best actor, we also want to be the script writer.  Give up wanting to be General Manager of the universe. Must ask again and again “God, is this what you want me to be doing??? “ There is no fail safe formula, no 1 revelation for your whole life (compass, not a map) It must go an ongoing process. 

You have no power if you are not free to quit your job. Vow to forsake your pension plan if you are called elsewhere. Your primary vocation is to yourself and to what God wants of you. It should not be to your pension.

Define what you want to do with your life in terms of gifts/ talents/ skills not job titles.

Hold on to your entire dream. Most people don’t find their hearts desire because they decide to pursue just half their dream and so they do their job hunt with ½ of their heart. Keep the whole dream and you will hunt with your whole heart.  It is this passion that is often the difference between successful career change and unsuccessful.

Average person tiptoes through life hoping to make it safely to death.

Then they beg for another life, when they haven’t lived the one they had. 

Knowing Gods will is not some passive guessing game Rather it is taking what god has already revealed to us and developing a plan of action.

Trust your dream as having come from a divine source. Success starts as a dream that we combine with a plan of action.

The world could work beautifully if we let it. The news isn’t how bad things are. The news is how good they could be. We could have a part in bringing heaven to earth. We could be inspired by a vision of a healed world. We no longer feel like we are trying to carry a football to the finish line, clutching it to our chest and surrounded by hostile forces. We instead feel as though angels are pushing us from behind and making a path for us.

Give all your gifts away in service to the world. Serving 3 people is as important as serving 300. Our power lies in the clarity about the role our work can play in the creation of a more beautiful world. The miracle is to think of our career as our contribution, however small, to the healing of the universe. There’s enough room for everyone to be beautiful, successful, and rich.

The best way to have a good idea, is to have lots of ideas to choose from.

Preoccupation with possessions prevents us from living freely and nobly. 

West: happiness from outside East: happiness from inside.  Need some of both, or you are going to end up homeless or really unhappy.   Doesn’t have to be either I love my job and don’t make any money, or I make lots of money but hate my job. 

Life is not a problem to be solved, but a mystery to be revealed. Your life’s work should be an integrated expression of being and doing.

When you live in, and follow your bliss, there is no obstacles you cannot climb. If you miss the bliss, there is no compensation adequate.

When you doubt yourself, remember that someone is counting on you.

Ask a 5 year old if he can draw, sing, or dance.  They will all tell you they are really good at it.  When did we lose that attitude.

Biggest handicap is the attitude we have about the handicap.

Number one reason people don’t get what they want is that they don’t know what they want.

Intention-Attention-No tension. Intention is consciously stating what you want. Attention: Give attention to what you choose to create and it will begin to show up. No Tension. When you are open to what is appearing in this moment, you allow Gods will to move through you. 

Christ said “My peace I leave with you.  Not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  This is right before Christ died, and the disciples were persecuted and eventually killed.  Can you see Christ running around anxious about getting everything on his list completed and accomplishing all his goals. 

Everything worth doing has some level of fun and enjoyment in it.

Your passions are the loves of your life. They are the things that are most deeply important to you. When you align your life with the things you love most, you will feel an increasing sense of purposefulness, joy, and fulfillment.

Passions are not your destiny. They are the clues or keys to your purpose in life.AS you follow your passions one day you will wake up and find you are living a passionate life filled with a sense of destiny.

Often we get bogged down in the Hows. How will I find the money? How will I find the time? IT’S NOT THE HOW THAT’S IMPORTANT.

Passions are how you live your life. Goals are the things you choose to create in your life.

In you are really honest with yourself, you will discover that where you put your attention is creating the results you are experiencing in your life. 

My life is ideal when…….. (passions). Post them in places you will see them

Whenever you are faced with a choice, a decision, or opportunity, Choose in favor of your passions.

Develop the habit of giving attention to everything that supports your intention and being indifferent to those things that do not.

If you find yourself not wanting to read your passion or review your goals, or go over your vision, It means either you’ve been straining on these things, or then is an underlying fear that you cant have or achieve what you have written

When you are truly passionate about something, there is nothing that can keep you from it. Try to talk yourself out of your passions.  If you can talk your way out of your passions, you would never have the commitment to make them a reality anyway. 

When you write out your passions in a way that excites you, your vision is aligned with your hearts deepest purpose. Then these things will draw you naturally to them. When you feel down you will be drawn to reviewing them because they will pick you back up again.

Put your attention on all the good in your life. Deal with situations that must be dealt with and don’t dwell on anything that doesn’t support what you choose to create.

Most people focus on all the reasons their dreams won’t come true.

If fear immobilizes you, ask “What is there about me that could make me successful in achieving my goals?” Break down goal into smaller pieces.  Write down the 5 reasons you know you are going to succeed.

Your life is created first in your mind, then in the world. Everything starts off as an idea (World Trade center was once an idea in someone’s mind.  Bringing down the towers was also once just an idea.

Your life becomes seemingly worse when you are intent on it appearing the way your think it should be.

Resign a General Manager of the universe.

When you on the right track, you feel happy, turned on, excited, ready for anything. Open , collective etc.

When you feel contracted, your guidance system is telling you to stop, take a break, look again, reflect. If you just keep going, its like a toy car spinning its wheels trying to get through the wall, instead of backing up getting back on track and going through the doorway.

Most people dream of winning lottery and having all their problems solved. Not “Having” to work.

Your life’s work doesn’t exist “out there”. Our deepest desires are as natural as any tree.

Have to vs Want To.  Anything you did because you HAD to, you missed. The things you did because you WANTED to, you experienced.

Joy in life is being used for a great purpose. Struggling to find your purpose is a great way to miss it.

All the great spiritual leaders have told us that losing ourselves is the road to Happiness.

Suffering is one of Gods greatest gifts.  Would you take away the pain your children have experienced if you could?  You would take away the learning.  Growth happens from the hard times. There is not much growth going on when things are easy. 

Death is the greatest teacher for life.  Without death, Life wouldn’t be precious.  It is scarcity that makes a diamond worth more than a rock.  Everyday death tells us to enjoy life.

Good news is that the bad times will pass.  Bad news is so will the good times.  Enjoy the good times while they are there. When hard times come, remember they won’t last forever.

Allow natural compassion and bliss to ripen. Sure to find vocation sooner or later.

Pay attention to your desire to be useful. Ask “Where can I serve?”

People try to create a predictable life. But nature is full of surprises. There are twists and turns around every corner.  Not knowing what’s around the corner is what makes life interesting.  Life is not all sunshine, rainbows and bunnies.  It has a dark side.  Tornados, Hurricanes, Floods, Droughts, Heat waves.

God’s goal for you is not to be comfortable and wealthy.  God’s goal is for you to grow and contribute.

Everyone has the capacity to bring the dignity, purposefulness, and presence of the artist to their work.

All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence. 

If you don’t use your imagination to build a creative life, It busies itself with fears, doubts and excuses.

I can predict your future……. All I need to do is spend a day with you, and listen to the words you use and watch what you do. Your words and your actions will tell me exactly where you will be in 5 years.

Live deep. Suck out all the marrow of life. When it’s your turn to die, you don’t want to discover that you never lived

A businessman loads up his cart with supplies to sell and attaches it to the donkey.  He dangles a carrot in front of the donkeys nose.  The donkey doesn’t even know what’s in the cart.  At the end of the day, the donkey gets the carrot, and looks forward to tomorrow’s task and another carrot.  But the businessman has an opportunity to do something really big.  If you’re working from 9-5, you know which role you are in this story.  Poor people trade their time for money… or carrots.  One big order will drastically change the businessman’s income and reward.

It is the nature of men to rise to greatness, if greatness is expected of them.

Turn affirmations into a question. What is there about me that make me successful in achieving my goal? Post questions like this and look at them throughout the day.

No one else gets a vote on what you do with your life.  Your parents don’t. Your friends don’t. Even your spouse doesn’t.  No one can know what it really feels like to be you. 

As partners in your marriage, you should want each other to succeed and be successful in whatever your partner wants to do.  If your spouse will not support you in trying to live your dreams, then you have a marriage problem, along with a career problem…

Will you make more doing a job for the money, or doing something you love? Long term it will be doing something you love. When surveying the richest people in America, the #1 factor that billionaires give for their success is doing something that they love to do.  Article on MSN Money in 2013 about list of Forbes 400 richest in America.  #1 factor they gave for their wealth was doing something they loved.  Not working hard, setting goals, or networking.

Law of Attraction.  Works unless there is another law that supersedes.  Airplanes.  Everyone knows metal doesn’t float.  But when the laws of lift and ----- (?) are applied, the law of gravity is superseded.  Just because the law of attraction doesn’t work all the time, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.  When a farmer plants a crop, and a flood or drought wipes it out.  He doesn’t say “Well, I guess the law of the harvest, what you sow is what you reap, is a bunch of baloney”.  He knows that sometimes you plant and don’t get a harvest.  But…… Sometimes you get a harvest beyond what you thought possible. 

They say money doesn’t buy happiness, but everyone wants to find out for themselves.

Don’t say I’m having a bad day. Say I’m having a character building day.

What do you Want (make a list). Narrow down that to What do you really, really want.  Then narrow to Really, Really, Really want.

There comes a time not too long into the journey to God, when the realization that the world could work beautifully if we would give it the chance, begins to excite us. It becomes our new motivation (old was selfish desires) The news isn’t how bad things are. The news is how good they could be. WE could have a part in bringing heaven to earth. WE are no longer ambitious for ourselves but rather inspired by the vision of a healed world. WE no longer feel like we are trying to carry a football to the finish line, clutching it to our chest and surrounded by hostile forces. WE feel instead as though angels are pushing us from behind.

Things frequently don’t turn out how thought they would. Stay open. When you are clear about what your passions are, you can’t predict how the will get fulfilled. Remain open to everything that appears without holding on to your concept of what you need. (open to everything, attached to nothing) Your greatest good might not be what you think it is. 

Your life becomes seemingly worse when you are intent on it appearing the way you think it should be. You Suffer. The laws of nature are designed to support you in experiencing deeper aspects of your own nature. When you fight reality, you will always lose. When you realize that every part of your life is working to bring you closer to knowing your true nature more completely, Life can only get better. By staying open to how life is appearing at this moment, free of your concept of how it “should” be, You create the opportunity for miracles to occur.

Your life will not look the way you think it will. Chinese has a saying “If you want God to laugh, tell him what you will be doing in 10 years”.

Attention is about taking action. You begin taking the actions you can see right now. If you are stuck, Make a list of all the possible actions and compare them with each other until you determine the next one.  Action keeps attention engaged.  God will guide you every step of the way when you listen to His messages.  When you are on the right track you feel happy, turned on, excited, ready for anything, open, connected loving. Off track: you feel angry, anxious, tense, irritable, shut down.

Those who try and fail are infinitely better off than those who do nothing at all.  NO way you can fail. You just got a result. Then you just work on getting a better result.  If you swing at a golf ball and miss it.  You didn’t fail.  You shouldn’t feel terrible about yourself. You got a result.  Do something different and try to get a better result.

When you feel off-track the cosmic guidance system is saying stop, take a break, look again, and reflect. If you just keep going, its like a toy remote control car spinning its wheels trying to go through the wall., Instead of backing up, getting back on track and doing through the doorway.

At the end of the year if I have made good choices and allowed myself to evolve, and if I’ve surrendered and I love who I am, THAN NOTHING ELSE REALLY MATTERS. When you are loving your life, magic happens. Who do I have to be in the inner world to create effortlessly and easily, with joy, the things that will nourish me in the outer world.

People are internally beating themselves up, then wondering why they are doing things in the outer world to beat themselves up. We begin by forgiving ourselves for being part of the human race, with flaws and imperfections, misbehaving and sometimes making wrong choices.  If you can forgive yourself internally and have compassion towards that sweet vulnerable child who lives inside you. Then you will create those kinds of magical moments in the outer world. Our natural instinct is to make things happen and to believe we can do everything and we are the driver. When you give up being the driver, there is a BIGGER DRIVER that is going to do a much better job than you.

WE don’t have to become anything; we already are everything we ever wanted to be. We just have to chisel away anything that is distracting us or blocking us from seeing that self. Then VIOLA.

Action is critical. Staying open is essential. But what can you do to increase the likelihood that your action will lead to success.

Established in wholeness, in the state of calmness and inner peace, perform action.

Whenever you are faced with a choice or an opportunity, always choose in favor of your passions.  “will this decision help me become more aligned with my passions, or will it take me further away?” If further, No and Thank you for asking.

Once having made the decision pay attention to the cosmic guidance system. Notice when you feel contracted and take a break. 

There is no magic wand we can wave and create a perfect life for ourselves. LIFE ITSELF IS MAGIC.

If you can’t be passionate, If you can’t really fall in love with what you’re doing, who you’re doing it for or with, and the result of it. Shame on you.

Value is the key. Value is not what you get.  It’s what you give. Figure out what’s important to them (whoever them is) what they like, what they enjoy, what rings their bell, rocks their boat, makes them happy, and connect with them on that level.

You will find in order to become successful, you will first have to want to help others be successful.  The biggest reason people don’t achieve what they want to is because of self focus. IT ISNT ABOUT YOU. ITS ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE. It’s about falling in love with people, what you’re doing for them, and getting clear on what your life is about.

When you feel truly passionate about something, you will always have the ability to create it in your life.  As long as you believe it’s not possible, it won’t be possible for you.

AS long as you believe you can’t, you won’t be able to. AS long as you believe it’s not possible, it won’t be possible. As long as you believe it’s too hard, it will be too hard for you.

What evidence can I find that maybe I can live my passions? Keep looking for evidence until you feel it deep down inside. (first and most important task in living your passion)

WE don’t suffer because of what happens. We suffer because of our thoughts about what happens. Reality is neither good nor bad. Only our thoughts make it good or bad. When you question your stressful thoughts, you realize they have no basis in reality.

Look at two objects in front of you.  Which one of these is You??? We would never do that. But we think these thoughts and believe that they are us. 

Since the beginning of time people have been trying to change the world and everyone else to be happy.  You would have to get a psychiatrist for everyone else in the world.  Much easier to change yourself and your view of the world.

AS you investigate the thoughts that make you feel afraid, unworthy, unlovable. You will discover something growing within you. Trust. What feels better? To believe that you are alone in the world, that you have to struggle and strain to get ahead, Or to believe you are surrounded by a benevolent universe that is constantly giving you gifts.

Be happy for no reason. Experience a deep inner fulfillment that comes from a profound connection with your own nature.

You have control over your action alone, never over its fruit. You have no way of insuring that you achieve any goal in your life. The only thing you can determine is what action you will take to create the life you choose.

The Bliss is always there, like the sun is always behind the clouds.

Trust that the universe and life are unfolding exactly as they should. Even though the outer circumstances may not always look the way you want them to look.  Truly happy people look for the gift in anything that happens.  They also put their energy into what feels good, not what makes them feel bad.

Work is love made visible.  And if you cannot work with love, but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy. For if you bake bread with indifference, you bake a bitter bread that feeds but half mans hunger. And if you grudge the crushing of the grapes, your grudge distills a poison in the wine. And if you sing though as angels and love not the singing, you muffle mans ears to the voices of the day and the voices of the night. All work is empty save when there is love. Difference between Dreams and Fantasies.  Fantasies have ego in them. Dreams are what our higher self wants.   

Talk is cheap. Everyone talks about doing things. When you talk about it, it’s a dream. When you start envision it, its exciting, when you start to get a plan, its possible. But when you schedule it. ITS REAL.

Life is a get to, not a Have to.

Everyone has a story why they can’t achieve their dreams.  Their story is the biggest thing that keeps them from achieving their goals.

Its not peoples background that makes them successful. It’s their mindset. Their psychology. 

If you feel unmotivated it’s because of sabotaging thoughts.

Commit to time for yourself. Not to think about problems, but to think about what we want, make a plan to make it happen. Create the juice of your life. Stop and think about what’s already great. Cant build on failure. Only build on success.

In one minute you can change everything.  You can say “I do”.  AS the Jewish after WWII you can say “Never Again”. You can say, I don’t care how many times I’ve failed. This time I’m going to take massive action every day until I accomplish my goal. 

Most people live in a box, wake up and get out a box of cereal, get in a box car and drive over their box office, work on a box, talk on a box, eat a box lunch, go home in your box, turn on the box for some entertainment, and MAYBE pull out a cylinder to change your state.

Quality of your life is the quality of your emotions.  How you feel IS your life.

William James said once a decision is made you should stop worrying and start working. It’s not always what we know that is important.  It is what we do after make the decision that’s the most important.  Taking the decision and executing it is what matters.  Ideas are a dime a dozen.  Taking an idea from the formless and bringing it to life is extremely valuable.

President Reagan had an aunt that took him to get some shoes. Shoemaker asked if he wanted round or square tips. He wasn’t sure. He came back a couple days later and said he still wasn’t sure. When he came back the third day the shoemaker handed him his pair of shoes. 1 was rounded, the other was square. 

If you don’t make the decision, someone else will. 

Making good decisions is the first ingredient of success. But it has no real value without the second ingredient: practicing discipline. Everyone wants to be thin, but nobody wants to diet. Everybody wants to live longer, but not many want to exercise. Everyone wants to be rich, yet few want to work hard.  Successful people conquer their feelings, and form habits of doing things unsuccessful people don’t do. The beginning and end of Success is starting and finishing. 

Most people want to avoid pain, and discipline is often painful. But we need to recognize there are two kinds of pain: Pain of discipline and pain of Regret.  The pain of discipline is momentary, benefits and long lasting.  Easier to pay the price to be successful.

You will not be in heaven for 2 seconds before you ask “Why did I place so much importance on things that were temporary. 

If the world gives you an opinion you don’t like, get a second opinion. 

The difference between the successful and the troubled is not error free living.  It is that by discovering and implementing a calling in life, the successful stand on their pile of trash, while the troubled sit under theirs. 

Live with flexibility. Palm trees survive 200 mph winds because they flexible.  When hard times come, and they will come, allow yourself to resist brokenness by bending.  When you come from the perspective of “I don’t know for certain, but I’m willing to listen”, others can identify with you. Be being open to all possibilities everyone you encounter feels their ideas are valuable and there is no need for conflict.  Let go of having to win an argument. “You’re very likely correct.  Thanks for giving me a new perspective.”

Pause in the middle of strife and tension and remember peace and serenity are on the way. NO storm can last forever. Everything is on its return trip, from the moment it comes into being.  The question is Do you want to participate consciously with this natural goodness or would you rather spend your moments in anxiety and failure?

Trust your ability to respond naturally to the circumstances in your life. Cease to be influenced by contrary points of view.

Watch and listen for the critical comments that originate from your own inner dialogue. When such thoughts emerge in your mind ask them what they want.  If you allow these emotions to speak, you will discover what they really want is to feel good. Give them the time they need to realize there is no payoff for their existence. And they will happily merge into the greatness within you.  But if you ignore them they will keep coming back.  Like a 5 year old that keeps bothering you, if you put down what you are doing and let them come sit on your lap, they will only stay for a minute or two, before running off and doing something else.  But if you try to ignore the 5 year old, he will keep bothering and bothering you.  If that doesn’t work, he will probably do something naughty and get in trouble.  Bad attention is better than no attention.  Listen your negative thoughts and emotions, give them space, and you will find that they run off to do something else.

Your good enough to withstand the passing disappointments and pain that afflict life on this planet.  But trying to protect yourself by believing you don’t embody greatness is overkill.

Whatever you desire to become or attract to yourself, make the internal shift from “It probably wont happen for me” to “Its on its way”.  Then begin the process of looking for even minute evidence that what you desire is indeed on its way.

Just as you breathe in and out.  There is a time for being ahead, and a time for being behind. A time for being in motion, a time for being at rest. A time for being vigorous and a time for being exhausted.

You are not in charge, you never have been, and you never will be. So you are advised to let go of any ideas you have about controlling anyone, even yourself.

We have a compelling desire within us to feel that somehow, somewhere, we have made a difference in the world.  The world is a better place because of our life.  It is not enough to be good. WE must be good for something.

Let go of the way you think life should be. Life should NOT “BE” a certain way when you are 30, 40,50, 60 or 70. Life always bats last.  Chinese : If you want to make God laugh tell him what you are going to be doing in 10 years.  Life is gonna be what its gonna be. You can put on your boxing gloves and fight like crazy all you want, but ultimately Life makes the decisions. 

People unsuccessful at change ask”Why does this happen to me? How could I be so stupid, crazy, or blind? How long is this going to last? Am I ever going to be happy again? How did God let this happen?

Who can help me through this change? How can I find humor in this? Could this change be protecting me from something?

Every change involves loss. Getting married= loss of freedom of being single.  Look for the part of you that never changes.  Look inside.  Be quiet. Listen. The truth will set you free.  But first it will infuriate you.  Find a place to be quiet every day.  Even if its in your car for 5-10 minutes a day.

We think we are alone. WE think we are the only ones going through this.  There is always someone who can help.  Who believes in you (usually not friends and family)? Who wants you to change? Who will hold the light to help you change, and is not going to let you slip back.  Ask for what you need help with!

The things we don’t like about ourselves are not going away. They are there to stay. Our job is not to get rid of these qualities, but to embrace them, befriend them.  So when they arise you can see them, call them by their name, invite them in, and make room for them.  Like a unwanted relative in our house. Be kind to them. Shift from wanting to transcend feelings to wanting to be intimate with them.

Fear is excitement with drag. What are you afraid of getting excited about? If you push fear away, it won’t become excitement. Stop making fear wrong and turn around and face it.

How can I best give my gifts to something which I believe?

Few people state clearly what their natural gifts are. The power behind our purpose is knowing and using our natural gifts. Everyone is gifted but many would deny that because they focus on their weaknesses. We think our gifts are common because they come so natural and easy to us.

What magazines intrique you? What subjects would you like to learn about? Go back to school for? What issues do you truly feel someone ought to do something about?

Everyone who discovers what moves them has to overcome their self imposed doubts and obstacles to getting started.

Gather what information you can (It is never enough).   Lots of over-educated under-achievers.

Get on with the business of working on purpose. Meaning comes to those who seek it. Don’t wait to be inspired. First we begin. Then the insights appear. It isn’t enough to be busy. Ants are busy.  The question is What are we busy about?

Waiting until we have time is as futile as trying to save money by putting away what we didn’t happen to spend.  Power of purpose is about aligning our energies around our true priorities.

Flow. Pick an activity that moves you. Raise the bar by challenging yourself to use your gifts to their highest level. Make sure your activity has clear goals and immediate feedback. Screen out distractions so you can achieve total concentration that produces flow. 

Find Solitude. How can we hear our calling if we do not create time to listen?  Our daily routine often lacks a sense of why.

Great is the need for deliberate reminders of the “Why”. Yet we create precious little time for regular reflection. 

Clarity is a trap often spelled – Guarantee.  By waiting for this so called clarity to come, we remain just where we are- stuck and paralyzed. Instead of waiting for clarity, ask to be shown the best opportunity available at the moment.

Assume you are in the exact place you needed to be.  Either you had to learn a lesson or your choices were the best you could make at the time.

You Go and do the work God gave you do, the task that is front of you and then go back and report.  Whats next?

Be the change you wish to see in the world.  Don’t just talk about how the world can be better.  Everyone complains about the timing of the traffic light.  Your just sitting there forever, but no one calls the city and makes a request that the timing of the light be changed.  What would you change if you could change anything in the world.  What love would you bring? What is your gift to the world.

Forgiveness.  Let go of the past.  Anger and resentment only hurts you.  It is drinking poison and thinking the other person is going to die.  Let it go.  Everyone has a good reason for anything they do, no matter how bad the decision is.  Love is the only way forward.

Clarity is a trap.  By waiting for this so called clarity to come, we remain just where we are: stuck. Give up the necessity to be clear about everything and be willing to live in uncertainty.  Confusion is not being unsure what to do.   Confusion is not being sure of what to do and not being OK with that.   

Simplify and focus of the feelings you want to feel.  Describe how your world is a perfect starting point for you right now.

If you are feeling confused and don’t know how to start changing your life, you are not alone. Your mind is going to insist that must be one answer that will solve your dilemma .  Your rational thinking process will demand that you make no moves until you a definitive plan for moving ahead.  But normally your life purpose unfolds naturally and the decisions you need to make get made in the moment they need to be made.

The point is to ask what you really want- bottom line. Then focus on that, even if you don’t have a clue how that will come about.

Relax. Let go of the need to figure everything out. Your life purpose is safe inside you right now.  You don’t need to struggle to find it.  Let go of the need to do something, to go anywhere, or to be different. 

Find ways to have more fun, and then even more fun.  Laugh like the Buddha. 

To accomplish your top priorities for the day ask yourself, right after you wake up, “What do I most want to accomplish today?” Notice your immediate inner thought about what is a top priority.  Do it.  Then determine what you need and ask for it. 

Its human nature to look for the reasons why things didn’t happen like we wanted them to.  We think we must have some inner blocks that are keeping us from it.  Give up feeding the belief in blocks and the fantasy of having to fix ourselves in order to be perfect.  Instead give your attention to what you want and the behaviors you are trying to perform. Look for guidance.

Most of us have foolish ideas about who we are, and lots and lots of rigid rules about how life should be lived.  Each of us is doing the best we can.  If we knew better, or had more understanding, or awareness, then we would do it differently.  We are all in a 40 story skyscraper trying to get to the top.  We are all trying to going to the same place.  Some are on the 5th floor. Some are on the 20th floor. And yes, some are still in the basement!  Please do not put yourself down for where you are.

WE have a tendency to treat ourselves like our parents treated us.  How often do you tell yourself “I love You!”. We are all victims of victims. Our parents did the best they could

Do you want this thought to be creating your future? The only thing we are ever dealing with is a thought, and a thought can always be changed. The past has no power over us. We can begin to be free in this moment.  The less self hatred and guilt, the better our lives work on all levels. 

If we are 100% responsible for everything in our lives, there is no one to blame. 

Whatever the problem is, what needs to be worked on is always loving yourself.  As we love and approve of ourselves, everything in life works.  You have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.  Louis Hay

Get out a piece of paper. Write at the top“I should”. Make a list of 5 or 6 things.  After you are done, ask yourself “Why”.  The answers show where you are stuck in your beliefs.  Should is one of the most damaging words in our language.  Every time we say “should”, we are in effect saying “wrong”.

Read the list again and replace Should, with Could.  Why haven’t you?  People often berate themselves for years for something they never wanted to do in the first place. What is on your should list that could be dropped with a sense of relief.

Babies are perfect. They don’t have to “Do” anything to be perfect. They know they are at the center of the universe and are not afraid to ask for what they want.

Look in the mirror. Look into your eyes, and say “I love and accept you exactly how you are”.  Most people have trouble saying that.  We think we are too tall, too short, too fat, too ugly, too lazy, and on, and on.  We think “I’m not enough”.

Look at the problems in your life and ask yourself “What kind of thoughts am I having that create this?” If you allow yourself to sit quietly and ask this question, your inner intelligence will show the answer.  If we want a joyous life, we must think joyous thoughts. If we want a prosperous life, we must think prosperous thoughts. If we want a loving life, we must think loving thoughts. You are the power in your world. You get to have whatever you think!

The only thing you ever have control over is your current thought. You are not a helpless victim of your own thoughts.

Exercise. Say “I approve of myself” 300-400 times a day for a month. No that is not too many times.  When a negative thought comes up, you can say “I let you go.  I approve of myself”.

If you are in a job you don’t like and you want to change your job, the best way to handle it is by beginning to be grateful for it.  Realize this is a stepping stone on your path.  When you are ready to leave your job, begin to affirm that you release your current job with love to the next person who will be delighted to have it. 

Know that there are people out there looking for exactly what you have to offer.   

When a child is learning to walk or talk, etc. we encourage and praise her for every tiny improvement. The child smiles and eagerly tries to do better. Is this the way you encourage yourself when you are learning something new? Or do you make it harder to learn by telling yourself you are stupid or a failure.

What about yesterday and the day before that? You hardly ever walk him to the bus. He’s probably holding your hand because he’s so desperate for the love and attention you haven’t been showing him.”  Then another thought came.  She told herself not to rob herself of this moment’s joy because of what she failed to do yesterday, or what she may not do tomorrow.  In this moment she told herself she was an awesome mother and deserves a Drop of Awesome.  Allow yourself to feel joy and allowing yourself to be proud of the small victories of life.  You do not need to wait three months to be who you want to be.  The moment you make the decision you wanted, you are the person you wanted to be. When you let yourself feel good for making correct small decisions , you make it more likely to make the correct decision again the next time.

Just because we feel something is the right thing to do, and we follow our intuition, doesn’t mean it is going to end up just how we wanted it to.  We do not have control over the results.  I was prompted to start my business and it failed, twice.  Does that mean that I really wasn’t prompted. No! It doesn’t.  The first time I actually figured out exactly what I wanted to do.  The second time I got a website set up and business cards printed.  I always tell my children you can choose your actions but you can not choose your consequences. 

The arrival fallacy.  Many people think that when they get the big promotion they want, or the new house or car, that they are going to be happier.  You might be happier for a short time, but you quickly return to feeling about the way you did before.  Think about it.  When you were 18 you just wanted to get a place on your own, then you would be happy.  You get your own place, and its cool for a little while.  Then you want a nicer place.  So you get a nicer apartment.  Now you just want a house with a yard. That will make you happy.  So you get a small starter house with a little yard.  But now what you really want is a bigger house with a bigger yard and a family room.  It is really easy to go from one thing to the next without being happier at all.  The reason is that these outer things will not bring consistent happiness.

Every morning we have a choice.  Will I seek out Gods plan today, or will I go about my day as a slave to my ego’s agenda?  As soon as we start asking Him how we can help with His plan, instead of asking Him to help with our plan, everything will be better for everyone. 

For many of us, the problem is not that we don’t believe in God, or that we don’t want to do his will.  The problem is simply that we have quite a few other goals as well.  Our goal is any situation should be that God’s will be done.  There is a divinely ordained plan.  There is a track already laid out.  All we have to do is ride our train along it.  A lot of us think we are responsible for the train and the track.  Following Gods way is not so difficult as it is different.  What is difficult is retraining our minds, and thinking differently than how we have been taught to think.  We are assigned to the place our talents and abilities can best be put to use, and learn the lessons we need to learn. God doesn’t create small spirits and He doesn’t make small plans.  Trust that he will guide your thoughts and actions.  We are only the faucet. God is the water.  Don’t trust in yourself, Trust in God.  The presence of fear is a sure sign that we are trusting in our own strength. You are not the Big Deal.  God is the Big Deal.

We trust God with the little things.  But if it’s something really, really important to us, we worry and stress out about it.  We need to trust him with the huge things too.    

All of us have special gifts and are meant to shine in one way or another.  Look at the children in Kindergarten. They are all gorgeous and magnificent. So are we. 

Regardless of where you are going tomorrow, it’s important to bless where you are and enjoy the fruits of today. The truth is almost any experience can be miserable if you’re good enough at making yourself miserable, and vice versa.

We are like sunbeams thinking we are separate from the sun and waves thinking we are separate from the ocean. The illusion that we are separate from each other and from everything else, is the source of all our pain.

Life is always sending us messages. If we don’t hear the messages, they become lessons. If we don’t learn the lessons, they become recurring problems. If we fail to resolve the problems, they become crises. If we ignore crises, it becomes chaos.

If we don’t feel peace about something we should never go ahead and do it anyway.  And if we don’t have peace while we are doing it, we should not expect to have peace after we have done it.

Don’t run from a difficult situation. When we surrender, we begin to experience the peace that passes understanding. We quickly learn that Gods way is better than any plan we could devise. Not knowing exactly what will happen in the future, but trusting God to take care of us and enjoying peace is far, far better than erroneously thinking we have life all figured out while continuing in fear and anxiety.   Joyce Meyer

One of the greatest ways we show our trust in God is living life one day at a time. WE prove our confidence in him by enjoying today and not letting the concerns of tomorrow interfere with the joys of today. 

Its not the events in our life that are so bad.  It is the dread we have of the events.  How would any parent feel if their dread dreaded the day we had purposely prepared for their benefit. 

If you have had difficulty making a decision, try this.  Let your mind restDon’t be thinking about what you should do. Then see what is in your heart.  What do you KNOW you should do?

Stop rushing.  Life is too precious to rush through it. Jesus was never in a hurry when he was on the earth, and God is not in a hurry now.  God has given us this great gift called life.  What a pitiful shame it is when we rush through it and don’t stop to smell the roses.  Each thing we do in life has a sweet fragrance and we should learn to take time to smell it.

You still need a plan.  We cannot live without a plan.  If we didn’t have a plan, most of us would do nothing.  Make a plan, and follow the plan, but be ready to let it go quickly if God shows you something else.

The purpose in life seems to be to acquaint man with himself. 

You make your schedule. If you don’t like it, change. Time is the only thing that is fair.  You have the same amount of time in a day that Mother Theresa, Gandhi, and Martin Luther King Jr. had. Construction worker complaining every day that he got a peanut butter sandwich for lunch.  Finally on Friday one of the other workers asks “Why don’t you tell your wife to make you something else for lunch?”  His reply was “I’m not married.  I make my own lunch.”  One of my favorite commercials is the one with a lady and a man riding an escalator.  Attach link.  Halfway up the escalator breaks.  They sit there for a long time waiting for someone to come help them.  Most problems are not as hard to solve as we think they are.  When we actually take time to define the problem, come up with possible solutions, research, and take action.

Most people are not willing to swing a baseball bat 5 million times to become good enough.  It has been said that it takes 10,000 hours to become expert at what you do.  Most people are not willing to put forth the time and effort to become an expert.

You should not pretend to fully understand why you want what you want.  Much of it is unfathomable and that is fine.  “I just know that it feels right for me” is good enough. 

What if the career you want is not realistic?  Realistic to who?  Even the most unrealistic looking career ideas can be reality tested.  Better to fail 6 times and learn from your experiences that to be told not to do something and forever regret not having tried it. 

Ego is future oriented and results oriented. Ego can rob a career of its happiness. “When I ____, only then will I be happy.” “I want to be ____ by the time I’m ____”.  Our culture glamorizes success, money, and status.  It is easy to lose the peace of mind that comes from being yourself. 

The best careers are those that emerge from the depths of a persons being, revealing her strongest drives and ambitions. Choosing a career is giving yourself permission to be who you are.

Need to be able to accept that lots of people will not understand of fully appreciate the work you are doing. It doesn’t need to make sense to others. In fact often it will not.  Act from your higher self, directing your energy to the work you feel most driven to do.  If you get some approval along the way, that is fine. But I will not alter my path in order to get more approval. 

Need to make work its own reward. 

You need to identify your major obstacle(s) or roadblock that you believe stand in your way.  These are the Yes Buts.  Yes I want to do that, But I can’t because….

When you get in touch with what drives you, you will stir up the energy you will use (and need) for achieving your career goals.

Some people enjoy feeling like a victim.  It gives them something to talk about.  And if they are a victim, then they are relieved forever of any responsibility for how their life is turns out.  Each idea or piece of advice is examined to see if it might force them to let go of their victim mentality. If the answer is yes, it will be resisted, tuned out, or rejected. 

“They’re thinking seems to go like this. “I have been employed in a number of jobs and have been in a number of situations over the years that were not terrific. But because I am a victim, I have excused myself because I had no power to change it.  Now you are telling me that I have had a lot of control over what happens to me.  The thought that I did not have to put up with all the pain and suffering that I went through, makes me really sad.  It makes me feel like I wasted those years of my life.  So I am not going to believe I have the ability to change.  I am a victim.  I have always been a victim.  And I will remain to be a victim.  Most of the time this is not a conscious thought.  It comes out as “Oh, I don’t know what I want to do”, or “I guess I’m just not very motivated”. 

The process of accomplishing your dreams is to get a clear picture in your head about what you want, and then organizing your energies, and building in.  Need to be part dreamer and part builder.  If you just dream, nothing will ever get built.  If you just build, you won’t like what you end up with.  Dream your life and then live your dream. 

A drop of blood contains all the information as the rest of the blood.  That’s why you can poke your finger to get a blood sugar count.  It would be exactly the same if you poked you nose and took the test again.  6 trillion reactions going on in your body every second.  If you take the drop of blood out of the body, its dries up and dies.  God is our source.  If we separate ourselves from him, our spirits shrivel up.

So often we think it is ourselves that is talking, when it is really our gremlin.  When you hear a negative thought, ask “Who is talking here? Is it my higher self, or my gremlin?”  Higher self only wants peace.

Change the meaning we have of our personal history.  We are trained to feel shame about our past mistakes and imperfections.  We need to look through a different lens, and see our past as magnificent.  Your past led you to where you are now.  And where you are now is a great place to be. Be gentle and forgiving of yourself.  Refuse to put yourself down.  Send healing to those you have hurt.  Hatred is like burning your house down to kill a rat.

Find ways to change how you view yourself, so you can become aware of your magnificence.

We receive messages about what to do.  The question is “Are we willing to listen to these divine messages that peak our excitement?”. The muse comes only to those who will follow her advice. Or are we going to listen to our false self, and pretend we didn’t hear anything. 

 

Dedicate your life to Love, Joy , and Peace.  We deserve to feel joy.  We don’t have to live a life filled with activities we hate doing.  By giving ourselves time to read, meditate, exercise, walk in nature, we will open ourselves up to receive guidance and inspiration.  We come from a source that is pure love.  Thoughts or actions that are not in tune with love will keep us from getting inspiration.   The calls on 9/11 were made to express love to those people most important.  No one called their banker or stock broker to check on final balance. 

Mantra of the ego is “more, more, more!”  We can be free to enjoy material aspects of the world while knowing we don’t need more.  WE can enjoy the world just as it is.

Need to get your four areas working together: Heart, Spirit, Mind, and Body.  The heart is the most important.  When you get this one in the right place, the spirit will fall into place.  Then the mind and at last the body.

When you let go of the belief that you should know everything, or you need to know everything, the confusion disappears.  When you accept that you do not know, you enter into peace.  What happens if you are unhappy, but decide you are OK with being unhappy?  Where does the unhappiness go?

You are not what you do. Otherwise when you do nothing, you would disappear.  I know a guy that has been sitting on a couch doing nothing for a year, and he has not disappeared yet.

It takes great learning to understand that all things, events, and circumstances in our lives are helpful.

Negativity is to the body and mind, what pollution is to the world.

Two shoe salesmen were sent to Africa in the early 1900’s.  One sent a telegram that said “Situation hopeless. They don’t wear shoes”.  The other sent a telegram that said “Glorious opportunity. NO one wears shoes here.”  Who was right?

If you walk in to the bank, and there is a robbery going on, and you get shot in the shoulder but fully recover, were you lucky or unlucky?  Just depends on how you look at the situation.

Passions aren’t hard to find. If you are paying attention to your life at all, the things you are passionate about won’t leave you alone.  They are the ideas, hopes, and possibilities your mind naturally gravitates to.  You would spend time doing them for no other reason than they feel good.  There is no trick to recognizing your passion. The hard part is trusting them.  WE are afraid that following our passions will make us look irresponsible and impractical. 

Your passions might draw you to an occupation that looks foolish to those around you, or lacking in a future.  Or it might not offer prestige and a huge income potential.  But following your passion unlock our deepest potential. Denying your passion cuts you off from this power.  Trusting in your passion does not give you a free ride through life.  It doesn’t excuse you from unpleasant tasks. In fact, it requires you to work harder and stretch yourself more.  Manchester Bidwell

Ambition will carry you only for a short time.  It doesn’t have the staying power to make dreams come true.  It must come from passion.

NO one is an island.  Have the courage to share your dreams with others, no matter how many people call you a fool. If your vision has merit, no matter how impossible it seems, someone will recognize it and help you make it come true. 

Reminding yourself that you don’t have to be a master by day 3 is the best way to assure yourself that you will be a master by day 3,000.

Figure out why you are 100% committed to achieving your goal.  When it gets hard look at your reasons and ask “Is it worth it”.

Believing in yourself is a choice.  It’s a habit you develop. 

After you set goals, the three things that could stop you are 1. Fears 2.  Considerations(find a different word) 3 brick walls

Fears: Fears are not unusual.  Expect that they are going to come.  Be ready for them to come

Considerations.  All the thoughts and reasons why it won’t work.  Surfacing these allows you to confront them and move past them. 

Brick Walls. Obstacles the world throws at you. 

Most people view these as stops signs.  They are simply a normal part of the process. You simply deal with it.  If they didn’t appear, your goal would be too small. 

Break your goal into chunks.

Seek out a teacher, coach, mentor, book or audio program.  Find someone who is has already done what you want to do.  Ask if you can shadow them, volunteer, or be an assistant. 

Use affirmations to release the brakes.  See yourself already doing or having what you want.  Start with I am.  Use present tense. Make it positive.  Brief and specific.  Review 1-3 times a day.  Read out loud if appropriate.  Keep breakthrough goal in your wallet.  Post 3x5 cards around the house.

Act as if you already have your goal.  The world doesn’t pay you for what you know.  Its pays you for what you do.

Remember times you triumphed over fear. 

Be willing find out what price you have pay, and pay it.  Go through the awkward stages. 

Reject rejection.  Rejection does not exist.  It’s just a concept in your head.

Failure (from success principles)

  1. Acknowledge you did the best you could with the awareness, skills, and knowledge you had at the time

  2. Acknowledge that you survived and that you can absolutely cope with any and all of the consequences or results

  3. Write down everything you learned from the experience

  4. Make a list of ways to do it better next time

  5. Clean up any messes, communicate any apologies or regrets

  6. Take time to review successes.  You’ve had many more successes than failures

  7. Regroup.  Spend time with family and positive influences

  8. Refocus your vision.  Incorporate the lessons learned, recommit to your original plan or create a new plan of action.  And then get on with it.  Get back on the horse

Practice Persistence.  It’s always too soon to quit.  Stop and brainstorm three ways to get around, over, or through your obstacle. 

Take 5 swings every day.  If you took a sharp axe, and took 5 swings at a tree everyday, no matter how tall the tree is, eventually it will fall.   Pick 5 things to do everyday that move you toward your #1 goal, your breakthrough goal, the goal that would make the most difference in your life. 

I release myself from all the demands and judgments that have kept me limited. I allow myself to go free- to live in joy, love, and peace. I allow myself to create fulfilling relationships, to have success in my life, to experience pleasure, to know that I am worthy and deserve to have what I want.  I now go free. In that process I release all others from any demands and expectations I have placed on them. I choose to be free. I allow others to be free. I forgive myself and I forgive them, and so it is.  Success Principles

Embrace change.  You can either grow or die.  You can either cooperate with what is, and learn how to benefit from it, or you can resist it and eventually get run over by it. 

Train your inner critic how to talk to you.  Transform it into your inner coach.  When you hear it criticizing you reply “Thank you for caring.  What is your fear?  What specifically do you want me to do? How will this serve me? Thank You!”  Tell your inner voice that you are not willing to listen to any name calling or criticizing. 

Two main pillars of self esteem are 1. Believing you are competent to handle life’s challenges.  Haven’t you handled everything so far? 2. You are worthy of love.

Transcend limiting beliefs.  1.  Identify limiting belief. 2.  Determine how the belief limits you.  3.  Decide how you want to be, act, or feel.  4. Create a different statement that affirms what you want

Committ 100%.  Not 50% or even 99%. 

Find a wing to climb under.  Make a list of people you would like to be mentored by and start asking them.

Make your work, your ministry.  Find a way to serve.  Volunteer your skills. Enroll in a class.  Start your business.  If you need more training, go get it.

Mihaly Csikxzentmihalyi, described flow as “the feeling of total engagement in the activity so that you don’t notice anything outside of what you’re doing: you forget time and you forget yourself”.

You don’t have to find just one passion. You could have a group of passions.  Trying to decide on only one passion can paralyze you.  You also don’t have to have an exact end goal in mind.  You do need to have a direction you are going.  Randy Komisar calls this your north-south-east-west.  Which direction will you start moving towards?  This lowers the pressure and allows you to take action, and start moving in the right direction. 

Write three lists.  What are you good at?  What do you enjoy doing?  What gives you a sense of purpose?  Then look for common themes in your answers.

Ask the 5 people close to you what they think your strongest talents and abilities are. 

The ability to find your passion is not nice-to-have.  It is a requisite for impacting the world and living from your highest self.

Some of you like sleep more than success.  When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will become successful.  Some people would be successful if they give up their cell phones.  The phone rings, or they get a text, and they act like if they don’t answer it, or see what the text is, they are going to die! 

The key to success is to take what you have learned and put it into action. You can’t do everything at once, but you can begin. Start with taking 100% responsibility for your life and your success. Clarify your life purpose.  Decide what you want.  Set specific, measurable goals.  Back them down into specific action steps you can take.  Create affirmations for each goal, begin the practice of visualizing your completed goals every day.  Then begin taking action on your most important goal everyday (except for R &R days).  Pay the price by doing whatever it takes, ask for whatever you need with no fear of rejection.  Commit to never-ending improvement. Persist in the face of whatever brick walls may come up.

Inner Peace Reality check

  1.  What is the reality of the situation?  What is the emotional reality (feeling and thinking).  What is the objective reality? The facts. 

  2. What am I resisting.  If you feel anything besides peace, you are resisting something.  Get really curious about what you are resisting.  Worry is resisting a future that hasn’t happened yet. 

  3. What will happen if I continue resisting?

  4. What can I appreciate?  What is good about this?

  5. Abundance question- What are my options?

  6. What will I consciously choose?

Cultivate the habit of complimenting yourself.  Make a compliments folder.  Whenever sends you an email, letter, note store it in your compliment folder.  If someone gives you a compliment, write it down and put it in

Designing your life is the same as designing a house.  You have to start with the blueprints.  If most people built their house like they plan their lives, the house would look terrible, it would be unsafe, and no one would ever live in it.

Set goals that are consistent with your values and your purpose.

Set goals you are excited about.  Needs to be big enough to excite you, but not too big that you can’t achieve it. 

People whos goals are really important to them have a hard time stopping working of their goals, not starting working on them. 

Break goals down to reduce fear.  Make it so you can’t fail. 

Stretch out, but don’t break.  Stretch a rubber band too far, and it will snap. 

Don’t set a goal for someday.  Someday is as elusive as the wind. 

Setting goals doesn’t cause you to achieve anything.  Achieving goals makes you successful. 

Gotta ask “Is my plan working”.

Your purpose must add value.  If shooting spitwads is your talent, it doesn’t matter how far you can spit them. No one is going to pay you. 

Even the best ideas are worthless without a plan to accomplish them. 

Most people have not found their most valuable attribute.  What is the most valuable thing you can do better than most people? Once you determine the most valuable thing you can do, Focus all your time, resources, and energy on it.  Do the most valuable thing you can do to the very best of your ability. 

Those who can creatively solve their problems, and others problems will have anything they want in life. 

Every problem contains the seed of an opportunity.  To a great extent, our success will be determined by how we deal with problems. 

Success comes from consistent action and steps. It doesn’t come from big leaps.

Only 8% of what people worry about is legitimate. The word worry comes from the Anglo Saxon word “to choke”. 

Perfection is not possible, but excellence is. 

Give everything you do, everything you’ve got.

What good is fame and fortune in Hell?

When we think something good is happening, we are happy.  Bad- Unhappy.  What happens when you suspend judgment of good or bad? When life becomes a fascinating mystery unfolding in the field of infinite possibilities, you become more and more free to choose your feelings.

Trying to do too many things at once is a trap that keeps many from full potential.  If you don’t have an assistant, you are an assistant. 

One psychologist said “I am enormously unsuccessful in changing people’s pasts”.

My definition of success is being true to your higher self and using your gifts and talents to make the world a better place while nurturing you most important relationships. (BG)

If you can’t see your vision, you are not moving towards it.  Put up pictures all over your house that remind you of your vision and inspire you.  Put up quotes or scriptures. 

Action cures fears.  If you just get out there and take action, you will find your that your lessens. 

Every master was once a disaster.  Be willing to be bad at doing something.  “I’m going to be bad at this, and then I’m going to get better.”  If its worth doing, Its worth doing poorly at first. 

Anytime you hear a negative conversation in your head, you can be sure it’s not your higher self. 

Having fun is not a diversion to a successful life.  It is a pathway to success.  Jack Canfield says if it’s not fun, don’t do it.  Success is about waking up and being passionate about what you are doing, and enjoying your life. 

Hold out your hand in front of you. Clench it in a fist with your palm up.  Then let go.  What do you notice about your hand? It’s open.  What do you do with an open hand? You are ready to receive something. Letting go is not giving up.  Letting go is receiving what is yet to come.

An important question to ask when you feel out of control is “Do I have full control, partial control, or no control of this situation?”

Most people spend 80-90% of their time living in the past or future.  Plan for the future, learn from the past, but live in the present.  When you live in the past you become depressed.  When you live in the future, you become anxious.

Connect with your core.  What is it you would die for?  What would you risk your reputation for?  What would you fight for?  If you were to put a stake in the ground and say this is what I stand for, what would it be?

We are all searching for peace.  Only way to find peace is by living from our core.

Money is an echo of value.  Value is the lightning, money is the thunder.  First provide value, then money will automatically follow. 

Where can I add value?

Being able to read and not reading is the same thing as not being able to read at all.  Knowledge without action is the same thing as not having knowledge. 

Build on small successes.  Muhammad Ali’s trainer would pair him up with someone who he would beat on his worst day.  He would win and his confidence would grow.  As he got a little better, the trainer would pair him up with someone who on his best day wouldn’t beat Muhammad on his worst day. Yes you want to step outside of your comfort zone, but you don’t want to go out and fail miserably. 

The most valuable thing you have to offer other people is yourself. Be authentic.  Ghandi said integrity is when “Everything you think, Everything you feel, say and do are in alignment”  That kind of congruency is powerful. 

Don’t make your mountaintop goal about money.  Make it about serving others. 

You can’t isolate the events in your life.  That would be like taking the ingredients for chocolate chip cookies and saying “Here, make a bite of butter.  Take a handful of flour and eat it”. You have to look at everything as a whole.  When the whole thing is mixed up, it tastes good.  When we look at our whole life together, it looks good.

Identify your core, Chart your path, and Set sail. 

You don’t have to understand it.  It is very powerful to say “God, I don’t understand this, but I trust you.” “God, this doesn’t seem fair, but I know you are fair.”

Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb.  That’s where the fruit is.

Fake it until you make it.  When you call yourself an expert, what happens is you become an expert because you have to prove to people over and over that you are an expert.

Ask over and over “What do I have to lose?”  If you have something to lose, then maybe you should be asking it.  But most of the time its fear and lack of belief that holds us back. 

What else? What if? Why not?

Always be yourself, unless you can be Batman.  Then always be Batman.

Our country was founded on entrepreneurship and freedom.  Do you think Thomas Jefferson and George Washington would say stay at your job for 30 years so you can get your pension and retirement, so you can retire comfortably?  No! They would tell you to go live your dreams with passion.  Live the life you want to live. 

One of the most important things in life is to decide what most important. 

What would you do if you really believed in yourself?  What would you do if you were courageous?  Don’t say I’m having a bad day.  Say I’m having a character building day.

You have greatness in you and you have the responsibility to bring forth that greatness. 

Write down the reasons why you deserve your dream, and why you wont give up, why you are unstoppable.  Have your reasons because the hard times are going to come. They are going to come by the truckloads.  Your reasons WHY will how you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep going.  No matter how hard it gets, I am going to make it.  What will make it worth it to you?

Begin doing what you want to do now.  We are not living in eternity.  WE have only this moment sparkling like a star in our hand and melting like a snowflake. Let us use it before it is too late.

Very often, not getting your dream leads to your destiny.

Whatever happens, you must find an empowering meaning.  How can I use this?  The worst situations in your life can benefit you if you are willing to trust that they have happened for a reason.

Doc Graham in field of dreams.  Kevin Costner says “That must have been devastating to be that close to your dream and have it pass you by.”  Doc Graham says “No, son.  Playing 5 minutes in the majors was not a disaster.  Only being a doctor for 5 minutes would have been a disaster.  I wouldn’t have gotten to save a man’s life, or deliver that baby girl.  If I would have gotten a hit, I might not have ever gotten to be a doctor.”

Give more than anyone else gives

Stop making excuses for why you can’t get it done and start focusing on all the reasons why you must make it happen.  Stop talking about what you have done or what you are going to do.  Just do it and let your actions speak for themselves.  Most great things in life don’t happen by chance, they happen by choice. 

Have you ever hidden something of value in a “safe place” because you didn’t want to lose it?  And then when you go to find it you realize you hid it so well, even you can no longer find it?  If so, then you understand the wisdom of leaving your heart and dreams unlocked and open.  To reach for what can be, even when you’re doubtful…

You are not your past failures.  You are not your past habits.   You are not how others have at one time treated you.  You are only who you think you are right now in this moment.  You are only what you do right now in this moment.

You are here for a special reason.  Stop being a prisoner of your past.

Risk is an inherent part of living a good life.  Without taking risks, you cannot truly live… you merely exist. 

You can’t drive a car if you don’t trust.  Have to trust that the other person is going to stay in their lane.  You can’t even walk across the house, if you don’t trust the wood floor and the ceiling are going to be stable. 

You don’t need everyone to like you.  You are a piece of art.  Not everyone is going to see your beauty.  Ultimately, it’s YOUR opinion of yourself that matters

What you take for granted, someone else is praying for

As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “The purpose of life is not to simply be happy.  It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

Goals must be daily goals. If they are not daily, they will never happen. 

Some say life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% your attitude, and what you do about it.  I think that is true.  But some people try to control the 10%.  They won’t be happy until their spouse treats them better, or their boss moves to a different planet. 

God is not going to plant a dream in your heart and then not provide a way for it to be accomplished.  That would be cruel. 

I may be in defeat, but I am not defeated.  I may fail, but I am not a failure. 

Prayer should be “God, even though my miracle didn’t happen today, I know that I’m 1 day closer to my destiny that you planned for me”.

When God sees you are doing what you can do, He will help you do what you cannot do.  God does not usually do anything for you that you can do for yourself.

There is no such thing as a finish line.  You can’t wait to be happy until you reach the top of the mountain.  There is always another mountain waiting for you.  You have to enjoy the journey. If you make the mistake of only living for the destination, one day you will look back and realized you missed most of your life. 

We always ask God to change our situations. God is much more interested in changing us than in changing our circumstances.

When the negative memories come into the movie screen of our mind, a lot of us grab a chair, sit down, and grab some popcorn. That’s not the only channel. Change the channel.  There is a channel that has all your victories, all your accomplishments, and good times.  You have the remote. 

Emotional wounds are like physical wounds. If you keep picking at them, they will never heal.

Your circumstances aren’t what make you worried or depressed.  It is your thoughts about your circumstances.  WE need to think about what we are thinking about. 

Too much learning and not enough doing will turn you into an over-motivated under-achiever. 

Your soul gets what it needs. Your personality wants what it wants.

Trusting in yourself, not in your accomplishments is the key to success.

We worry simply because we don’t think we can solve our problems and we don’t trust God.  Worrying is selfish.  Normally when we are worrying, it is about what will happen to us or what people will think about us, etc.

Despair is suffering without meaning.  Pain is inevitable.  Suffering is optional.  When we find meaning in our suffering

Instead of telling yourself “I’ll never have the money to do this”, or “I’ll never be able to do that”, Tell yourself “This is exactly how it is supposed to be today.  But I am open to any and all doors that present themselves at any moment.”

Ted Turner had lots of losing years in a row when we bought the Atlanta Braves, before taking them to the World Series.  Someone asked him if it was hard staying motivated when he kept losing.  He said “I wasn’t losing.  I was learning how to win”.  I love it!

Don’t wait to feel better so you can cheer up.  That’s the opposite of what you should do.  Cheer up so then you can feel better. 

When you feel lost, ask yourself “If I had self esteem right now, what would I do?  If I had courage right now what would I do?  If I had guts, what would I do?” From Caroline Myss. 

Use memories, but do not allow memories to use you.

The best way to motivate yourself is with results.  The results you get give you drive and power to get the next results.  You can’t get there with will power alone. 

Each of us are born into this world with Secret Orders, something we are meant to do.

Zero Based thinking.  Is there anything I am doing now that knowing what I now know I wouldn’t have started doing?    Are there investments in time, energy, or money, or people you would change? 

It is what it is.  You can’t change the past.  We all would change some things if we could. 

How do you know what your true beliefs are? You can look at your behavior.  It’s not what you say, wish, or hope that matters.  It’s what you do.  It’s easy to say “I love you”.  It’s much harder to show love with our actions.

Nothing in life happens to us.  It happens FOR us.

Removing labels that other people put on is really hard to do. Its like removing a bumper sticker that has been on a car for10 years.  You are not what people call you.  You are what you answer to. 

Winners ask “How can I?”.  Losers ask “Can I?” 

Don’t say “I can’t do it”.  Instead say “I cant do it yet.  But I will be able to do it if I keep working at it.”

Courage doesn’t come in a bottle.  Courage is deciding I don’t care what the consequences are, I am going to do what I know I am supposed to do. 

All I know is I’m getting guidance. 

Guidance comes every day. It doesn’t come for a week, month, year, or decade.  When Moses was in the wilderness, children of Israel got manna for 1 day.  .  In the same way, sometimes we only guidance for a day.  Think about it.  How can God give you guidance today for a month in the future, when you aren’t at that place yet? 

You must process your pain.  Can’t just put on a coat of paint and go skipping into the sunset. 

When you start feeling discouraged and feeling like things are not going to work. Change the Channel.  Change the channel to what God has done for you in the past, your victories, the things you have overcome.  If God did it for me in the past, he will do it for me again.  Replay the victories.  Replay the day your children were born.  The day you got married, graduated from college or high school, or the day you got the promotion.  The things you are grateful for. 

When a song comes on the radio or a TV show comes on we don’t like, we don’t complain about it.  WE just change the channel.

The main battle is taking place on the inside.  Create an encouragement file.  Every time anyone sends you something, or says something nice to you, write it down.  If no one compliments you, compliment yourself.  That’s what God did.  God created the world and said “This is Good.  I did a good job here.”

We are in such a habit of recognizing what we do wrong instead of what we do right.  Be in the habit of catching yourself doing something right.  Drop of Awesome.  Every night go over all the right things you did today.

If you owned an apartment complex and filled it with 80% of drug dealers, thugs, robbers and cheats, in a couple of months all the normal people would be done.  When we fill our minds with 80% of negative thoughts and anxiety, it will run off the positive 20%.

Some people look at talents too narrowly.  They think talents are singing and dancing, carving statues, designing buildings, or writing software.  They think if they cant do those things, then they aren’t talented.  But talent comes in many forms.  It takes 1 kind of talent to drive a Semi truck, another to play the piano, another to program software, and another to write a book. 

Ask yourself what your strongest ability is.  You don’t have to be brilliant at doing something to be successful.  People with ordinary talent have become extremely successful.  Secret lies in determining where your strengths lie and focus those strengths on your objective.  NIdo Quebin

Focused energy is like a laser. If your energy remains unfocused, it is wasted energy.  Identify your talents and figure out how to use them in energizing and exciting ways. 

More important how you play your hand, then the cards you were dealt.  Maybe you wish you had been born into a different family, or born without this or that.  But you can’t go back. 

Your Power Zone is the areas that you can do something about. You want to change and you can. Your futility zone is where you have no control. You want to change but you cant.  Your Don’t Care Zone is the things you don’t want to change.  The more you operate in your power zone, the bigger it gets.  Identify things that are important for you than you have the ability to change, and go out and do them. 

Ignore the trivial.  Don’t stop the parade to pick up a dime. 

Some players step up to bat thinking about the double play the hit into last time.  Some players step up to bat thinking about the home run they know they are going to hit.  Rehearse the future, not the past. 

Successful people don’t dive off the cliff without looking.  They look, and make sure there are no hidden problems, and the water is deep enough at the bottom.  Then they jump.

  1. What is the best result that could happen from me taking this action

  2. What is the worst thing that could happen

  3. What is the most likely thing to happen

  4. Am I willing to take a chance at getting the worst possible outcome, for a chance to take a shot at the best possible outcome. 

You are not a failure.  You are a success waiting to happen. 

Albert Einstein was asked what the difference was between him and other people.  He said the difference is if someone asked most people to find a needle in a haystack, they would find the needle and be done.  He would go through the entire haystack and find every possible needle. 

Real change must begin with acceptance.  We must know where we are before we can move forward.  You are where you are because of the decisions you have made.  You just can’t get around that one.

You must start with believing and knowing that you are good enough just as you are.  What is wrong with you how you are? There is nothing wrong with you.  You deserve to be loved just how you are.  That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to become the best person possible.  It simply means to know deep down inside that even if everything you do doesn’t work out, it’s OK.  Your great just how you are.  That is the beginning.  If you start from anywhere else than that, you will be heading in the wrong direction.  NO amount of success or money will make you love yourself.  Many people think love is a feeling.  Sometimes a feeling comes with it, but love is a choice.  You don’t always “FEEL” like being nice to your children or your spouse, but you make a “CHOICE” to be nice because you love them.  Make the choice to love yourself too.           

Pay attention to what comes around you when you start following your intuition.  This is called bread crumbing.  You will start seeing things and receiving promptings.  Pay attention to what people say.  You might have 3 people tell you the same thing. Pay attention.  Clues will pop up.  You might get a phone call.  You might see something on TV. 

What are you doing when you are just being you?

What did you want to do before you started college and people convinced you that you couldn’t do that?  What have you always wanted to do?

Death is the greatest teacher. It teaches us to be grateful for every moment.  Don’t be afraid of death. Use it to more fully appreciate life.  You should experience the life that is happening to you, not the life that you wish you had.  We don’t need more time before death.  WE need more depth in the experience of living. 

You can’t do anything you want to do.  But you can do what you are supposed to do. You can also become more of what you already are.  

You are exactly where you are supposed to be. 

There is an easy way and a hard way to achieve goals. The hard way is to work night and day, stay obsessed, rarely sleep, and never give up.  The easy way is to be grateful for what you already have, playfully declare what you would like to have with positive emotions, feeling as if you have already achieved it, and to act on the nudges and opportunities that appear.  You never know what will lead you to your goal.  Your ego can’t see the big picture.  Your job is to take inspired action.  Why struggle if you don’t have to.  

There is magic in saying “I would love that, be I wont die if I don’t get it.”  When you say you need something, the need pushes it away.  When you want something, it pulls it towards you.   

You are the treasure you have been searching for.  You are the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Look inside and see the glory of who you are.  You are more than good enough.  Instead we look outside to others for external justification of why we are good enough.  WE cannot, we must not wait for others to tell us we are worthwhile.  We all have something to offer the world. 

The only real scarcity is the resistance to our true self and our ability to think big.  We are the person we have been waiting for.  Thinking big is a journey inward to our essential nature.  It’s not about adding things or becoming a different person.  It’s about chipping away what is not your true self. 

Faith is not a feeling.  Faith is a choice. 

Success is not a destination.  Success is a direction.  Just like you cant achieve happiness, you cannot achieve success. 

Sometimes we spend so much time learning things we think we might need to know.    

Most of us don’t live life. We live Mind. 

You need to have passion, competence, and a market to be successful.  If you just have passion and competence, you have a hobby.  If you just have competence and a market, it mean you are bored to death and hate your job.  If you don’t have competence, you won’t really have a market at all. 

Gratitude is the antidote to frustration.  It is impossible to feel grateful and frustrated at the same time.  Can you smile and frown at the same time?

Focused light can cut through steel.  There is the same amount of energy in a light bulb as there is in a laser.

Your core values come in four areas: people, possessions, activities, and principles.  Where your care value is with people, you are putting your power into someone else’s hands.  You are happy when other people are happy, and are focused on what they want.  People who focus on possessions focus on acquiring things rather than using them.  For activity minded people, the focus is mainly on what they are doing.  When it is based on principles, the most important thing is who and what you are.  God is usually the center in these peoples lives and decisions. 

Successful people are quick to make up their minds and slow to change them.  Unsuccessful people are slow to make up their minds and quick to change them.  It is rare for successful people to question themselves and change their minds.   

If you have done the same thing for two years, there is probably a better way to do it. 

Creativity can be stimulated by the question “What’s next”

You may decide to live someone else’s dream (like your parents’) but you wont commit to something unless it is your dream. 

You need to create the future, not remodel the past. 

Successful people are willing to risk “Failure” for an opportunity to grow.

When you say “I can’t” you are shutting down your brain from coming up with possibilities.  Instead ask “How can I” which opens the door for possibilities and ideas. 

People are not looking at your degree.  They are looking at you.  Why are they not excited about you?

The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare. 

Indecision is the greatest thief of opportunity.

If you take your children out of school early on a nice spring day, would you be irresponsible or fun loving.  Virtually all behavior can be viewed in a positive light.  Eating junk food= enjoying what you eat. 

Some people have a really hard time changing their behavior because they really value the behavior under a different name (ex. Fun loving or spontaneous).

Thoughts are seeds you bury like an acorn.  But you don’t unbury a seed everyday to see if it is growing.  Most people are so impatient that they give up when the seed is still growing.  Everything worth creating is worth the joy of watching it unfold.

Law of the harvest.  A farmer doesn’t give up if a flood comes and destroys all his crops.  He doesn’t say “Well, I guess the law of the harvest doesn’t work.”  No!  He knows the law is a true principle.  But that doesn’t mean it works every time.  He knows if he is patient and plants again, eventually he will have a harvest.

Law of attraction works unless there is another law working against it.  A piece a metal can not float in the air because of the law of gravity.  But an airplane flies because it uses the laws of lift and thrust.  The law of gravity is superseded by other laws.

When you are interested in a goal, you do what is convenient.  When you are committed to a goal, you do whatever it takes.  Are you committed to living the life of your dreams, or are you just interested in it?

What is the one thing, if you didn’t do it, you would feel like your life was a waste of time?

All the written plans, goals, and desires aren’t even good for wallpaper if the first action isn’t taken. 

There are so many brilliant people who plan and analyze for years but don’t ever get to first base because they don’t just get out and do something. 

An artist must see an image to make a sculpture.  You’ve got to be able to first see the vision you want to create in your mind. 

Look around the room. Everything you see is a product of someone saying “Hmm, I wonder if I could do that?”

Smile.  Be happy.  If you are not smiling, you are missing a great opportunity. 

You don’t have to have more money to be happier, even though you might like it.  You don’t have to be thinner, better looking, or more successful to be happy either. 

Life doesn’t have to be hard.  You know what you want, do what is in front of you, and trust the process.  Most people think you have to fight and struggle through life.  A marathon can be hard.  But for people who love running, it can be enjoyable, even while they are sweating, straining, and hurting.  They even pay money to do it!

Thoughts create feelings.  Sometimes we don’t recognize that because it happens as fast as lightning. For instance, if you see a police siren right behind, there are almost instant feelings.  But there had to be thoughts first.  Some flashing red and blue lights wouldn’t mean a thing to you without negative thoughts about it. 

On one side of your to-do list write the things you want to get done.  On the other side write the things you want the universe to do. 

Parenting and genetics play a part, but they don’t hold a candle to who you hang out with and associate with.     

To an ant a rock looks like a mountain. Someone 6 feet tall probably won’t even notice it.  It all depends on your perspective. 

Nothing is perfect in life……. Besides everything.  No one is perfect, but we were made perfectly; exactly how we are supposed to be. 

Logic doesn’t exist.  If it did we would all drive the same cars, own the same houses, clothes, vote for the same politicians, and have similar views about life.  Giving defies logic. 

What is it time for?  Right now, what is it time for you to do?  What is falling into place, ready to hatch.  Rather than forcing what you want to happen, see what wants to be done right now. 

Whenever you are worried, afraid, or anxious, do exactly the opposite of what you usually do. 

When you feel fear, tell yourself “That’s great”, because you are pushing yourself beyond fear. 

You get what you focus on the most.  Wanting is not the key.  Most people want more but never get it.  The only thing you have control over is your thoughts and actions.  It doesn’t matter what you’ve thought before.  The only thing that matters is what you are thinking right now!

All first steps are awkward.  When you first started walking, you probably fell and bonked your head a few times.  The same way you learned to walk is the same way you learn to do anything.  You wobble, you fall, and then you get back up and try again.  Eventually you figure it out. 

In the 1500’s the Spanish explorer Cortiz landed in the Southeast corner of Mexico and ordered his men to burn the ships so there would be no turning back.  Was he successful?  There is a reason they speak Spanish in Mexico. 

If you have something to fall back on, usually you will. 

Above all, be playful, have fun, and be grateful. 

Serving others is to the soul what food and water is to the body.  Most people want to be successful and then they will serve others.  That is backwards.  A better plan is to serve others with everything you got.  Help people become as successful as you can. 

I am part of You.  You cannot fail, therefore I cannot fail. 

They tell you to study hard, do well in school, go to college, and you will get a good job.  But that is one of the best ways to not be successful.  Your job is to be outrageous, creative, and successful.  End of story.

The minds’ favorite question to ask is, “What if this doesn’t work?”  You need to ask right back, “What if this works?  What if this really works? What if I succeed?  What if I become really good at this and make a lot of money?”

Most people idolize the past, complain about the present, and fear the future.  Try learning from the past, living in the present, and being excited for the future. 

To sell more tie your product to the nostalgia of the past, relieve the agony of the present, or convince them your product will make their future less risky. 

People don’t think about their beliefs.  Don’t try to change their beliefs.  People will pay any amount of money to have their inner states changed. 

People are not happy.  There is a dark part of their mind nagging at them telling them it could be better than it is.  People will do illegal things to make them feel better.  They will line up and pay a lot of money to ride a roller coaster or watch a horror movie.  Anything to feel different than how they feel like now.   

More than anything else in the world, people want to be happy. 

When you sell to people, make them feel like royalty.  Make it as fun, creative , and outrageous as possible.

Some people say they don’t know what they want.  They are lying.  They know what they want.  They might be afraid to admit it; even to themselves.  Because if they did, they would either have to make it happen, or make excuses about why its not happening.  Sometimes its just easier to say you don’t know what you want. But you know.  Admit it. 

Your memory will not be accurate. You will not remember everything, and you will not remember anything completely accurate. 

Whenever you are not sure about why you did something, look at the beliefs behind why you did it.  Behind every behavior is a belief.  If you change your belief, you will change your behavior.  What would I have to believe to do this, or feel like this?

Learn to distinguish facts from your interpretation of the facts.  Most people give a negative interpretation of what was said instead of just looking at the facts. 

People who do, have.  They are the people that will help shape your destiny. 

If you help people to feel loved, they will pay you in gold. 

We are not meant to go through our difficult situations alone.  God puts people in our path to help us.  Use them and be grateful for them. 

Look at all of life as a school. Every experience is a lesson. Make your learning greater than your experiences.  Every experience has two parts; the part that worked and the part that didn’t work.  Maximize what worked and minimize what didn’t work. 

You don’t get to choose all your experiences, but you do get to choose how you use them. 

Be confident and clueless. Confident you can accomplish your goals, and clueless that failure is an option.

If you give up you have a 0% chance of success.  Your experiences are rich with lessons if you look for them.  When you find the lessons in your trials, it is all worth it. 

Always make your contribution bigger than your reward.  Think more about your contributions and the rewards will flow to you.  Focus on creating more value to larger amounts of people.  Focusing on the reward is trap because it takes your focus off your contribution, which is the reason you are getting the reward in the first place.

Money is a certificate of appreciation.  The only way to make money is by providing value.  You must create value before you can expect to receive a reward. 

What you appreciate, appreciates. 

Always make your enjoyment greater than your effort.  Enjoyment doesn’t have to be hard-earned.  Success doesn’t have to be hard.  Finding more and more ways to get enjoyment out of your work is a sure way to continue growing. 

It’s not the work or the effort you put in that matters.  The only thing that matters is the result.  If you can get the same result or better, and enjoy, there is nothing wrong with that.  With a little ingenuity and effort you can find a way to get enjoyment out of any task. 

Approach life a game and growth as the objective.  Put yourself in the right frame of mind, to enjoy the adventure no matter what it brings. Do what you love and find ways to make it fun.

Are my short-term efforts and long-term goals still aligned?

It’s not what you do or achieve every once in awhile (big picture), but what you do every day (small picture) that counts. Dream big dreams, but realize that short-term, realistic goals are the key to success. What you want to achieve is directly connected to your daily actions. The way you spend your time defines who you are and who you will become.

Therefore, make sure what you are doing (small picture) truly aligns with where you want to go (big picture).

While the pleasure junkies of the world avoid pain and discomfort at all costs, be someone who truly understands the value and benefits of working through the tough situations that others typically avoid. Be willing to sacrifice short-term pleasure for long-term happiness. Be more interested in something being effective than you are in something being easy. While everyone else is looking for the quickest shortcut, look for the course of action that will produce the real results you want for yourself.

When something is a priority, it gets done. Period. And it’s not what we claim are our priorities, but how we spend our time each day that reveals the truth. You can make excuses. You can always try to wait for the perfect moment, the perfect this, the perfect that… but it won’t get you anywhere.

To get where you want to go you just have to start DOING. It makes all the difference. Making excuses takes the same amount of time as making progress.

The formula

This is my formula for eliminating anxious thoughts in the moment:

  1. Identify what the problem really is. What are you afraid of?
  2. Is there anything you can do about this, in this moment?
  3. If there is, do it.
  4. If there is not, choose to trust that it will be OK. It will be what it is meant to be. There is no sense in suffering over something you have no power to control or change. You might as well trust the universe that whatever happens will serve you somehow.
  5. Choose to focus on something more positive. I recommend finding someone to give to, love or validate. Love eliminates fear, fast.

Larry Wilson, who told her there are two games in life. "The one most of us are playing, called Not to Lose, is an avoidance game. We're so afraid of taking risks, looking bad, that we never really win." The other game, Wilson says, is "To Win." People who play To Win are willing to take risks and, yes, even expect some losses along the way. But people who play Not to Lose are more concerned with comfort and convenience.

Even if you don't know where to start, it's important to just get started, she says.

Unfortunately, a lot of people bail out before they realize how close they are to taking the prize."

Your time is now. There’s no price too great for feeling accomplished. There’s no price too great for feeling alive. And if you don’t do it now, you probably never will. You know the thing you’ve been putting off the longest? That thing you’ve been procrastinating on for the last several weeks? That’s the thing you need to start doing today. You are either going to replay the past or preplay the future. Which do you want more of? Take a picture and put it up of what you want. Put pictures up of places you want to visit! Most people just put up the past and focus.
Take all the bad experiences and evaluate them and pull the good out.


Experience is not the best teacher.  Evaluated experience is the best teacher. Otherwise everyone would just get better as they got older.

You can't go through the day thinking negative thoughts and lead a victorious life.  Instead of hitting the delete button, sometimes we play it over and over and over. Something someone said 20 years ago is holding us back. There will always be people who will try to throw water on our fires. You gotta get good at hitting the delete key. You are not who someone says you are.  You are who God says you are.
 
Don't be a beggar, be a believer. Ask once and then praise. Turn your test into a testimony. Once you pray, switch over into praise. All day repeat “thank you that my business is profiting”.  When we beg God for things it makes him feel like we don't trust him (story about his 13 year old asking him for a car when she turned 16.he said yes and she has been thanking him and talking about what kind and color of car she is going to get, even though she is only 14 now. How would he feel if she kept asking and begging over and over. He would feel like she didn't.trust him or believe him. Thanking does more than begging. Praise gets gods attention. Thanking him in advance for the healing, prospering. Jesus thanked god in advance before lazarus was healed. Thank god in advance for the answer even though you don't see any sign yet. Every time you start to worry, get tempted to complain, dig you heels in and say Father thank you for the rain (elijah thanking God for the rain 7 times before it came) thank you for the abundance that is coming, as you keep thanking God your faith increases. When you get upset the best question you can ask is "what else could this mean. Then come up with as many positive meanings as negative. Is usually not about you. If someone is upset it’s usually about them.

So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose I the service of your people.  Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place.  Show respect to all people and grovel to none. When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and the joy of living.  If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself.  Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of vision.  When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their over again in a different way. 4 Areas of Ability

  1. Unique Ability.  This is where you have superior skill, energy, passion, neverending improvement, growth

  2. Excellent Ability.  In this area you have superior skill and reputation, but no passion and energy

  3. Competent Activities.  You meet the minimum standards.  This area brings anxiety, competition, and repetition.  There is no passion, energy, growth, or superior skill.

  4. Incompetent Activities.  This is where you find failure, frustration, conflict, and stress.

    The first step is to eliminate incompetent activities.  After that eliminate competent activities.  Ultimately you want to even get rid of excellent abilities so you can fully focus on your unique abilities.  You eliminate this activities by just not doing them, finding someone else to do them, trade with someone, use technology, or hiring someone.  Estimate what percentage of the time you are operating in your unique area of ability and then set goals to increase it.

    The secret to a happy like is to discover what you love doing and develop a way of getting paid for it.  A greater secret is to do what you love, get paid for it, and make a contribution to other people.  And the greatest secret of all is to do what you love, make a great contribution, and get extraordinarily well-paid for it.  Dan Sullivan

    To strike oil you don’t dig 100 holes 1 feet deep. You dig 1 hole 100 feet.  Decide what you want to do and start digging your 100 foot hole.  Keep digging and you will strike oil (or gold J).

    Never underestimate how much hand holding some people need to do something. 

    Don’t let what was once a miracle become ordinary. It was once a miracle to meet your soul mate.  It was once a miracle to have your children.

    Look at your lowest hanging fruit. They are the easiest to pick.  Start small.

    Make the biggest impact you can in the shortest amount of time, so they will get the best results and are the happiest.  That will put you in a position to charge what you are worth.

    If you have the desire to be an entrepreneur, the ability is there. 

    If people are telling you that your idea is not a good idea, the first thing you should look at is who is telling you that.  Negative people are always going to say ideas are dumb and they wont work.  But if successful people who are accomplishing things consistently tell you they don’t think it’s a good idea, its probably not a good idea.

    The best way to have a great idea, is to have lots of ideas to choose from.

    No one has all the answers.  I was devastated when Tony Robbins and Wayne Dyer got divorced.  I thought they had all the answers to living a successful life. 

    If your self-esteem is a function of your performance or other peoples opinions, which are both unpredicatable, then your self-esteem is up for grabs everyday.

    Success is about creating benefit for others and enjoying the process.

    Learning more is not going to help you be more successful.  Its not what you know. Its what you do that matters.  There is an old saying that knowledge is power.  Knowledge is not power. Applied knowledge is power. 

    Its not what we can do, but what we will do that matters.

    What is that you really want? The most successful people don’t have to-do lists.  They focus on what they want and then they go for it.

    Purpose-  Why do you want it.  When your why is big enough, you will do anything to accomplish it.

    Massive Action PlanWhat specific massive action do I need to take to get the results I want.

    Focus on the result you want.  Don’t ask yourself “What do I HAVE to do”.  That is the kiss of death.  Instead ask “What is the result I am looking for”.

    A genius is nothing more than focusing your activities in a consistent way to get a result that you are committed to. 

    Set a goal that is north of your comfort zone but south of your delusional zone.

    When someone says I know its important, but…, they usually have a big butt because they don’t practice self-discipline. 

    Learn the power of now.  Now is where your power is.  Do one thing.  Make one phone call.  Write one paragraph.  Make one decision.  After you do that one thing, you are usually get in a good state and do more. 

    Momentum and chunking (breaking down into smaller goals) are good ways to overcome rationalization. 

    Successful people focus on the end result.  Unsuccessful people focus on what it is going to take to get there and the obstacles in the way.

    Pain is your friend if you use it drive you and don’t just live in it.  I dare you to go through some pain.  Don’t cry to give up. Cry to keep going.  On the other side of pain, is success. 

    When would now be a good time to do it?

    Andrew Carnegie had 41 millionaires working for him.  Someone asked him how he hired 41 millionaires.  He told them that none of them were close to being millionaires when he hired them.  He said you develop people like you mine for gold.  You have to go through a lot of dirt.  But you don’t go in looking for dirt.

    Look for the gold buried inside others and yourself.  Its there.    

    A successful person is not someone without fears, doubts, and anxiety.  They just accept that it is normal and go about creating the life they want.

    Law of Polarity (Yin/ Yang) Everything has an equal positive and negative.  Learn to see both sides in everything.  Recognize when you are resisting the natural rythmn.  Row, Row, Row your boat, GENTLY down the stream.  That sounds more enjoyable than trying to row up a stream.  Unless you need a really strenuous workout. 

    The optimal level is always in the middle.  What happens if you never eat?  You die.  However you can also gorge yourself and die.  The optimal speed for the best gas mileage and safety on the highway is around 60.  If you go 10 mph, your gas mileage wont be good and it will take forever to get there. If you go 120 mph, the gas mileage wont be great and you will be risking your life. 

    FEAR False Emotions Appearing Real

    What is the one thing if you don’t do it, your life will feel like it was a waste?

    Decide what level you are going to play the game at.  There are the kindergarten, elementary, high school, college, and professional levels.

    Being worldly doesn’t mean that you just want money.  It means you look to the outside world to solve your problems. 

    The only thing you want is to feel enthuasism, joy and love.  If you can feel that way all the time, who cares what happens on the outside.  If you can always feel excited about the experience of the moment, it doesn’t really matter what the experience is.  It is beautiful.  Learn to stay open no matter what happens.  If you do, you get for free what everyone else is struggling for.  The trick is to not close. If you don’t close, then you are open.  As long as you define what you like and don’t like, you will open and close.  If you love life, nothing is worth closing. 

    If you mistreat an animal, it becomes afraid.  If you mistreat your mind, it becomes afraid.  Our body talks to us in pain, and our mind communicates to us with fear. 

    We have given our minds the impossible task of wanting only good things to happen and no bad things.  That is the equivalent of asking our body to lift trees and jump mountains.  Your body would be in turmoil if you kept asking it to do the things it cant.  Your mind is always going because it is trying to make things perfect when it is impossible to.  Untethered Soul

    Wise beings do not want to remain slaves to the fear of pain.  You must learn to deal with pain when it first comes up, instead of trying to avoid it.  Wise beings permit the world to be what it is instead of being afraid of it. 

    When you feel fear, view it as energy moving through your heart.  Then relax and release.  Relax your heart until you are face to face with what hurts. 

    When its raining, some people say “Roll the windows up”.  I want to say “Its raining. Roll the windows down.”

    If you live life fully, you won’t have any last wishes.  You will be living these wishes every moment of every day.  Only thing to get from life is the growth of living life. 

    See, Believe, Do

    I can’t is a dead end.  What is the next step after I can’t.  There’s nowhere you can go.

    You can’t have courage without having fear.  Courage implies fear.  If there was no fear, you wouldn’t have needed courage.

    If you don’t have desire and fear to deal with, then you don’t have anything left to worry about.  You have no problems.  There are events that happen and you deal with them. But they are not problems.  Your worry and fear is what takes events and makes them problems.

    You fear death because you crave life.  You feel there is something that you haven’t experienced yet.  People fear death will take away from them.  Wise people know death is constantly giving meaning to life.  Death is what makes life precious.  Rarity is what makes diamonds valuable.  If there were just laying around everywhere the would be worthless.    

    When death smiles at you, the only thing you can do is smile right back.

    Fear will go away when you come to realize that the only thing to get from life is the experience of living it. 

    How long can a pendulum stay on one side? Not very long.  How long can it stay in the middle?  Indefinitely; because there is no force moving it.  Do you like hot weather?  What about 6,000 degrees F where you would be incinerated?  Do you like cold weather?  What about absolute zero where your molecules don’t move at all?

    You can never see where the Tao is going.  You can only be with it. 

    Blind person walking with a stick is the seeker of the extremes. He is not trying to find where to go.  He is trying to find where not to go. 

    Live your life in between the extremes which is the Tao. 

    When you identify less and less with your physical and psychological body, you begin to identify more and more with your spiritual body.  Your physical and psychological bodies always have something to complain about.  Your spiritual body always feels love, peace, and happiness.  That’s what you want to identify with.

    I want to live deep and suck all the marrow out of life.

    When you go to a botanical garden, its very beautiful, loving and peaceful.  You don’t judge the shapes and colors. You just appreciate them.  What if we could view people in the same way.  Not judge them for how they look, dress, and behave.  Just appreciate them for the flower they are.  Gods love is like the suns light.  It doesn’t matter if you have turned your back on it for 100 years. As soon as you turn towards it, it is always there and shining.  You cant make the sun stop shingin. You can only turn your back away from it. 

    A weed in your garden is not negative. It is a call for action. 

    When God closes a door, get your face out of the way of the door and it wont hurt so bad. 

    We are not the reader of our fairy tale.  We are the creator and author. 

    Don’t use your energy to worry.  Use your energy to believe.  It takes the same amount of energy to worry or believe.  Neither of things have happened yet. 

    Don’t use your words to describe the difficult situation.  Use your words to change the difficult situation.  You’ve prayed long enough.  Now it is time to speak. 

    Whenever you feel superior or inferior, that is your ego.

    Stick to the facts, not the story. “I’m ruined” is a story.  I only have $50 in my bank account is a fact.

    Don’t say “I’m unhappy”.  Say “There is unhappiness in me”. Then look at the situation.  If there is something that needs to be changed (facts), then change it.  If there is nothing that can be done, say “Right now, that’s how it is”.  Face what is without making up stories about it. 

    Become a giver.  What can I give. 

    You get to decide your relationship with the present moment.  Is it my friend or my enemy? The present moment is really life.  Do I want life to my friend or my enemy?

    Think about something you would like to have happen in the future.  Close your eyes.  Take a minute and hope that is happens.  Do you see two possiblilities; it working out and not working out. 

    Imagine another scenario of absolutely expecting it to happen.  Know that it is going to happen.  Does it feel different?  Which one do you like better.  Expecting it to happen is usually more active, while hoping it will happen is more passive. 

    There is only one action we need to take.  That is the next one.  The next right thing is usually something small, mundane and not very glamorous.  It is always doable and gives you a sense of satisfaction.   

    We know when we are not doing the next right thing because the actual next right thing is pestering us, bugging us, and dancing around in our consciousness.  Doing the next right thing takes courage. When we display humility and take the honest next step for ourself, we are always rewarded with a sense of true accomplishment. 

    Man makes plans and God laughs.  But this does not mean don’t make plans.  Plan and then be open to your plan being improved on; by God or your neighbor.  Be flexible. 

    Don’t wait to be discovered. Discover Yourself. 

    Focusing on your weaknesses may help avoid failure, but it will not help you achieve success.

    Much better to live a world class version of yourself, instead of a second class version of someone elses life. 

    Parents don’t get a vote on what you do with your life.  Even your spouse doesn’t get a vote on what you do (she might get a vote on the time frame or the plan for achieving it though). 

    Its better to imitate greatness than to create mediocrity.

     

     

    Don’t seek happiness, because seeking happiness is the antithesis of happiness.  Happiness is ever elusive, but freedom from unhappiness is always available. 

    Are you confident in tying your shoes?  Yes.  How confident?  Extremely.  Why?  Because I have done it thousands of times.  The best way to become confident is to do it everyday. 

    If you cant get in the front door, go through the back door, then the window.  If that doesn’t work put a hole in the roof and lower yourself in. (lame man with Jesus)

    Sometimes we don’t want to rock the boat. WE want to keep everything like it is.  But God wants us to grow and change.  So sometimes He turns the boat upside down.

    Even in crisis, perspective brings calm. Calm leads to clear thinking.  Clear thinking leads to ideas.  From ideas we get answers. 

    You can’t always believe what you think.

    A lot of people fail because their goals are ego driven instead of values driven.  People say that they want more money, but if you tell them to join the mafia you will find out that money is not the highest value on their list.

    Sometimes we can’t say “I can do it”, but we can say “It’s possible”. 

    For people who are running towards their dream, life has a special kind of purpose.  Don’t let anyone steal your dream. 

    Les Brown tells a story about playing a game of connect four with his son.  He had won about 10 times in a row and told his son he didn’t want to play anymore.  I love his son’s response.  He said “It’s not over until I win”.   What if we had that attitude.  What if we fail over, and over, and over, but every time get up and say “It’s not over until I win”.   

    Put up pictures in your house of where you are going, not just where you have been.

    The past does not equal the future.  If it did there would be no cars or computers.    

    There is only one place to go if you don’t want any problems; the graveyard. 

    Successful people still have problems.  They just have higher quality problems. 

    There is no such thing as a big task.  There are just small tasks.  When you do enough small tasks the right way, you complete a big task. 

    Its not harder for nature to create an oak tree than it is to create a mushroom, but is sure takes longer. 

    We know God has a plan for us, but sometimes we would like to know what that plan is.

    Resign as General Manager of the Universe.  Is God on his throne or not?

    If you take someone that is broken and point out their rap sheet, it’s not going to help you.  But what if you pointed out their past victories and the goodness that is in him?  Something inside him would have cause to awaken.  He would begin to see what he could be.  When we treat a man like he is, he becomes worse than he is.  If we treat him like he potentially could be, then he will become what he should be. 

    Always know what to do next.  One of the great hindrances of personal excellence is not knowing what to do next.  WE finish a task, but don’t know our next priority.  AS a result we waste most of our valuable action time doing busy work and trying to figure out what to do. 

    Whenever I get stressed I tell myself “Everything is exactly how it is supposed to be”. 

    No one is ever defeated until defeat is accepted as reality. 

    Most people say they want to successful but don’t really want it bad enough. 

    Say you're a locksmith and your task is to install a lock on someone's front door. If you only adopt the purpose of installing a lock successfully, you might be happy or miserable; gratified, or not, by your work. Instead, of accepting the lock installation as your purpose, look for the real significance of your task. Your purpose isn't really to install a lock, is it? That's just the task. Your purpose is to protect a family from criminals. You are a protector. Someone who saves people from violence, burglary, and even murder. As you install the lock, treat each step as if you will be stopping a murderer next week. Make it even more personal by imagining that you are stopping a murderer whose next victim would have been someone you love. Every step of the installation becomes like a karate block to thwart a thug. You are a hero, a savior
